We contracted with Mr. Willer in April, 2021, as a general contractor to oversee and construct a kitchen remodel. He asked for a 50% + downpayment-- we thought it was unusual to pay so much up front, however, he indicated he needed the cash flow. What a mistake. From the first day he and his subcontractors did EVERYTHING WRONG; 19 months later we still do not have a complete kitchen, and what is complete is because we did it ourselves and re-did as much as we are able. He never used our scale drawings nor showed them to subs. The vent he installed backwards then sloppily turned 180 degrees leaks and our exterior is a mess and incomplete. The joists to support the extension are indadquate and improperly installed with incorrect footings/support. Windows were installed in the wrong place and incorrectly. The exterior wall is not straight. The subflooring is incorrect and not level. He did not pay the electrical nor plumbing contractors. Every attempt to get him to correct his mistakes and rectify the gross negligence of the construction was in vain, and even though his contract with us clearly stated "no additional payment until completion" and "no change orders except in writing with mutual agreement," he kept asking for more and more money--even to purchase a $20 post to hold up the porch he left dangling (we had to get a car jack and our own post to hold up our roof!). We were told by attorneys to kiss the $40,000+ goodbye. We did file a complaint with the SC Contractor's Licensing Board and see now that the license has "lapsed", however, Willer Woods is still in business, at a new address, with rave reviews which seem inconceivable. Anyone thinking about hiring this company should read our complaint which is on file with the SC Dept. of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. We would put zero or negative stars if this was an option.
