Palmetto Dunes does not care about the customer. 10 days out from our booking on a condo we booked nearly 10 months ago they canceled my reservation due to a home renovation. They offered no comparable units with beach access, bedrooms, or heated pool. They offered me a refund or a condo miles from the beach. They did not offer me additional compensation, additional resources or any help. They clearly do not have empathy or try and offer compassion in helping the customer. Told me good luck in finding a condo 10 days out from your vacation. I will NEVER book through them again!!!!Update: To respond to below, this was a programmed renovation not a repair. One that they knew was ongoing for months. They just took it down to the wire and canceled me last minute. Facts of the story matter!Additionally, they refunded me and gave not a single additional thing for my frustration and ruined vacation. They only care about the bottom line and DID NOT DO a SINGLE THING to make this right. We rented a week at the Palmetto Dunes Resort in *********** for our anniversary the week of Sat September 14 thru Sat Sep21st. Order Confirmation is #RES-29361. Due to medical reasons I needed to cancel this reservation. I called on 8-1-24 and spoke *** and cancelled our reservation. I was told it would be 7 to 10 days for the refund to process, which was within the cancellation period for a full refund. No refund every came so I called on 9/12/24 and spoke to *** again and he said it was his fault the refund didn't process, and he would get it taken care of immediately. As of today 9/16/24, there has still been no refund of our initial payment of $1022.04.Initial Complaint

Weve been trying to terminate our ownership through Palmetto Dunes and RMC management but their unwillingness to work with us toward any resolution has ** at a standstill. No one wants to take responsibility for what were going through. When we purchased it, we were told we could sell it when we no longer needed it. That was not true. Their responses to us have been less than helpful, to say the least. The only suggestion theyve presented is to sell. We have already made several attempts to sell, starting one year after our purchase, and wasted more money in the process. The most recent route we took in 2020 was utilizing SellMyTimeshare, resulting in a waste of $1998. Outside realtors will not take a timeshare listing because its a lot of effort for little to no return. To sell through the management group as suggested, the commission is exorbitant at 45% with a minimum commission of $1000 and a $99 listing fee. We can't justify wasting any more money with no guarantee it will sell. Also, when we purchased, we were not told that owners would one day be allowed to rent their weeks to non-owners. This one change has resulted in devaluation of our ownership. Why would anyone want to purchase a timeshare when they can rent the week they want at a fraction of our ownership cost and not be burdened by ever-increasing annual maintenance fees? We also tried to rent our week several times, but we have only been successful three times for a net return of $508.36. We tried again this year and had no success.Initial Complaint

We have been trying to get a response from the resort in the hopes of getting a deedback. It has been well over a year with nothing but silence. They want us to continue to pay but they never acknowledge we even exist! Like many others, we were gravely affected by the pandemic and shut downs and have not been able to travel or use the timeshare. All we have been after is the deedback so the resort can take back ownership and resell it. Please help us BBB! We have been ignored long enough!Initial Complaint

We purchased a timeshare with The Village at Palmetto Dunes about 15 years ago. We have for almost a year now been requesting the cancellation of our timeshare contract in which we have received no responses. There was a phone call recently made to confirm the status of our account, in which a voicemail was left and still we did not receive a response. We are dumbfounded at their lack of customer service and their continuous behavior in neglecting to respond to our pleas for relinquishing a timeshare contract we never utilized. We had originally made this purchase at a charity auction and since then the maintenance fees have continued to increase every time they are due. Furthermore, the unit was advertised as a way to access RCI points to use elsewhere, but RCI informed us the unit had no exchange value.
We feel a lot of the information was left out to what we were actually purchasing and believe the only reason The Village at Palmetto Dunes donated at this "silent auction" was to lock someone into an agreement for the maintenance fees under the disguise of "charitable donation". As mentioned, I have repeatedly requested cancellation via mail, phone, fax and now I am filing a complaint because I feel I have attempted all options possible. I have mentioned I would deed the property back (at my cost!) and would just like to receive the documentation in order to begin the process. I am hopeful this complaint will shed some light on how The Village of Palmetto Dunes runs their business and locks their customers into contracts. Additionally, I am hopeful this complaint will prompt a response and I await the documentation to deed back the property as soon as possible.Initial Complaint

We are formally writing this complaint against The Village at ******** *****. We continue to request to be released from this burden but it seems to have fallen on deaf ears. As mentioned before, we can no longer hold onto this burden. We have addressed this with The Village and they have not shed one inch of concern. The fact that this company would treat their clients like this proves exactly why we want out. We are not asking for anything in return, only a mutual release from them completely. Please review our case and help us with the resolution we are seeking. We look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
