    Additional business information

    Advertising Review:
In December 2023, BBB contacted Coastal Air Technologies regarding claims in its advertising.

Its website advertises several reduced price offers, such as "$25 Off Repairs of $200 or More," "$300.00 instant rebate on any new system," "$75 off a Reme Halo Air Purifier," and "Free second opinion of replacement."  According to the BBB Code of Advertising, an unqualified sale may be used in advertising only if there is a significant reduction from the advertiser's usual and customary price of the products or services offered and the sale is for a limited period of time. If the sale exceeds 30 days, advertisers should be prepared to substantiate that the offering is indeed a valid price reduction and has not become their regular price.  BBB is requested that the business substantiate that the offering is a valid price reduction and has not become its regular price.  The business did not provide the substantiation or modify its advertising.

Its website includes the NATE logo and statement "The NATE-certified comfort consultants at Coastal Air Technologies, Inc. care about your HVAC system and believe that your comfort is a top priority."  The primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB.  The business did not provide proof of current NATE certification.

Several statements concerning warranties and guarantees appear on its website, including "And we provide a one-year warranty with all new HVAC installations" and "We’re licensed, bonded and insured, and we offer a 100-percent satisfaction guarantee to all of our customers."  When using the term “warranty” or “guarantee” in product advertising, the advertiser must clearly and conspicuously include a statement that the complete details of the warranty or guarantee can be seen prior to sale at the advertiser's location, viewed on the advertiser’s website, or made available free on written request.  Advertisers should only use “satisfaction guarantee” or similar representations in advertising if the seller or manufacturer refunds the full purchase price of the advertised product or service at the consumer's request.  Any material limitations or conditions that apply to the satisfaction guarantee must be clearly and conspicuously disclosed.  The business did not add the terms of its warranties and guarantees to its advertising or modify its 'satisfaction guarantee' claim.

Its website states "According to recent studies, about 90 percent of AC installations are performed incorrectly" and "Many studies in recent years have concluded that 90 percent of HVAC installations aren’t performed correctly."  Advertisers must not deceptively or falsely disparage a competitor or competing products or services in their advertising. Truthful comparisons using factual information may help consumers make informed buying decisions, provided the advertiser can substantiate all claims made.  The business did not provide substantiation for these claims.

Had our ductwork replaced to tune of $7000. Apparently the company had installation contracted out to two gentlemen. Turns out was is a drunk and was left unsupervised. He drank on the job and made a lot of mistakes. We contacted the company and come to find out, everyone knows he's got a huge drinking problem and has issues being intoxicated on the Job but they thought it was funny and told us some stories of other jobs he screwed up. We weren't pleased but ***** ( does estimates for jobs) said he'd personally come out and check the ductwork under the house to make sure we didn't have any more issues. He never came despite trying to contact him several times and leaving messages on his cell phone and stopping by the office. The job took double the 3 days ***** said it would take and they kept sending the drunk guy and his partner back to reconnect the ductwork to the vents into the house that they forgot to connect. A few days after they finally finished the job, I went ahead and had had Coastal Air clean the main unit. A few days later, paying approximately $200. A few days later, I went to turn on the A/C as it was a warm day and it wouldn't blow cold. I called ***** and as usual, he didn't call me back so I called the office and made an appointment to have a tech come and check my unit. The tech said he put gauges on the unit and all the freon had leaked out so why didn't the first tech check? That's what he was there to do as it was a maintenance and cleaning call. The second technician said it was highly possible that a freon line was damaged during the ductwork replacement because the unit had to be moved off of it's slab during the job and if it's not done carefully, these things happen but a nitrogen test had to be conducted to know for sure where the leak was and if a component on the inside of the unit was damaged, we might have to replace it which is VERY expensive. My unit is not very old and regularly maintenanced. Coastal Air still denys responsibili
