We had several pieces of furniture recovered by Arnold and the Lamb and were initially pleased with the work despite poor communication of when our furniture was available to be picked up. On several occasions, we were told a piece was ready only to drive an hour to get it, and it was not ready, or they couldn't locate it. We also had to ask for leftover fabric each time which was never with the furniture.
In September 2021, Arnold delivered our beautiful red leather sofa he recovered with gorgeous hides we bought from *** ******* **** *****. It was stunning, and we enjoyed it for 2 months until we moved and put it into storage wrapped in moving blankets which we used for all our antique wood, leather, and upholstered pieces. When we got our furniture from storage upon moving into a new home, the sofa had visible Sharpie writing in reverse on it, identifying the areas on the sofa where the leather was placed. The Sharpie bled through to the exterior of our leather, ruining our sofa beyond repair.
When we addressed this egregious mistake with Arnold, he immediately became defensive and refused to acknowledge that it was his error. He blamed the storage unit which was climate controlled and which had no water damage or humidity issues in the entirety of our 22 months of usage. We were there often to check our furniture. All other furniture stored there is in immaculate condition, including upholstered chairs Arnold recovered. The leather itself and sofa's wooden feet are unscathed, but the sofa is ruined by careless markings with a Sharpie pen.
We incurred great expense including the cost of the hides as well as the cost of Arnold's upholstery work. His refusal to assist us by either paying for new leather and reupholstering at no charge or paying for all our damages is an abject failure as a businessman to stand by his work. The lack of integrity is astounding for someone who has practiced his craft for 40 years. We are very disappointed in his handling of this.

I wish I had read these reviews before I brought my settee there. It was an old family heirloom from my great, great grandparents. It was a Victorian settee from the 1890s. My husband and I had started to restore it but it was a big job. Our horses kept getting in the barn and tearing the stuffing on (it had hay in it). I had been looking for a place to bring it that I could trust. Wrong move! After he had it for about a month he called me and informed me that one of his workers broke it all apart and threw it away! I'm still wrapping my head around this. My husband and I went there Saturday to talk to him. He wants to make it "right." He offered me $500 because that's all it was worth when I brought it to him. However, if he had fixed it as he said the settee would have been finished. He thought it would only take a couple of weeks. I don't need the settee. It was sentimental. I didn't even know where I would put it. He offered another one. I don't want that. My husband asked if he had insurance. NO! All the settee's that are comparable online are a couple of thousand dollars. Of course, they are fixed up. I just don't want anything like this to happen to anyone else. I'm heartsick over this...

I took a small chair with sentimental value here to be reupholstered. I supplied the cloth. I was told via text message that this was a small job and it would be done by the end of the week. The following Friday, I called to see if it was ready and was told that they needed another week. The next friday, I called again, same thing. I started getting worried because the people on the phone seemed like they had no idea who I was and it took the a while to even find my chair and then they couldn't remember which cloth they were covering it with. A few days later, they called me back again to ask what cloth they were supposed to be covering it in (it was a very distinct cloth). That Friday, I called again. They said it turned out more complicated than they thought but that it would definitely be done by the following Friday. So, I decided that instead of calling on Friday, I would just go up there and bring my chair home either way. The store opens at 9 am. I got there at 10 am and there were several workers sitting around in a circle just talking, absolutely no work being done. I understand lunch breaks, but this was literally an hour after they opened. I asked for my chair and everyone started scrambling around trying to find it. They bring it out and the only thing they've done to it is take the tacks out. I asked for my cloth, and they go in and pick it up from where exactly where it had been sitting when I dropped it off a month ago. I honestly have no idea how this place is still in business.
