Greenville county animal care. I contacted them the day my sisters dog was brought in about picking her up. My sister was incarcerated and couldn’t pick up the dog herself. I Was told that I couldn’t come get the dog but that she would be picked up the next day. Turns out instead they adopted/euthanized her with out even contacting me knowing I had shown ownership because last I knew I was told she was getting picked up. And when she wasn’t picked up, considering I showed proof of ownership. They didn’t care to contact me to give me the chance to pick her up knowing I showed proof she was her dog in what world is it policy . Knowing that stray dog has an owner, then you refused that owner the right to pick up said dog!! So you euthanize the dog instead of calling the owner. Which mind you I am listed as an owner on her microchip that they didn’t check

The dog in question was brought to Greenville County Animal Care by Greenville County Animal Control at the request of the Greenville County Sheriff's Department. The dog's owner, [name redacted], was incarcerated at the Greenville County Detention Center on 10/24/2023, and her dog, **** (also known as ********* 91142), was placed under the care of Greenville County Animal Care. On 10/24/2023, we initiated contact with the Greenville County Detention Center (GCDC) to gather information about the owner and obtain authorization for another individual(s) to retrieve the dog on the owner's behalf. GCDC confirmed that the owner had provided the name and phone number of a person, [name redacted], as authorized to reclaim the dog. Additionally, the owner had granted permission for this person to transfer the dog to another individual, [name redacted], if necessary. Notably, the individual making this complaint was not among those authorized. Efforts were made to reach the authorized person, who initially agreed to collect the dog the following day but failed to show up. Subsequent attempts to contact this individual on 10/27/23 revealed that they were unable to retrieve the dog and were unaware of the designated person mentioned by the owner for the dog's transfer. In light of the situation, we reached out to GCDC to update the owner and inquire whether the owner's sister (the complainant) could retrieve the dog on the owner's behalf. However, we received no response from the owner despite our efforts. Subsequently, the dog remained in our care for the necessary holding period and, as there was no response or communication from the owner, the dog was placed for adoption. Ultimately, the dog found a new home through the adoption process.
