On 03/01/2025 me and my son went to Midlands Honda on Killian Rd to shop for a car. My son found the car he like and spoke with salesman Caleb to get approve. My son got approved for a 2019 Honda Accord and was required to put done 3k for a down payment. He signed the paperwork and 4 hours later he finally drove off the lot with his new car. Last week the dealership called him stating that the finance company were in need of another paycheck stub. Remind you we gave them 3 paycheck stubs on the day he got approved. Time went on and a week later my son notified the dealership because he still have not heard from the finance company and his temporary tags are about to expire. He spoke to Marc and he told him that the finance company decided not to finance the car any more and he would need to find another finance company to finance the car, or get a co-signer or even just turn the car back in by Monday 04/14/2025. I called and spoke to to Claude the head manager of the finance department and explain the situation to him! He told me yes that was true and the approval was base off contingency. I then proceed to tell him that they did not approve him base off contingency but it was a final approval. I and upset and disgusted with this company. My son goes to school in Myrtle Beach and is over 3 hours away. He was approved for 3k down and $300 a month at 9% when we left the lot on 03/01/2025. Now he would have to go with another finance company and be approved for less money and a higher interest rate at 27%. That had lied and deceived us so that we can purchase a car. Something needs to be done about this matter.

Worst experience with Honda I’ve ever had. Everything is fine while they’re selling you a vehicle, after you sign the paperwork customer service goes to crap. They won’t call u back, couldn’t get anyone from any department to call us back unless we repeatedly called them for weeks at a time. They put broken/ bent parts luggage rack on SUV. They put the wrong rims on our car, After I asked the manager if we could exchange pictures to make sure there was no misunderstanding, but he didn’t care to take my advice and do it correctly. They put black rims on our suv and didn’t replace the lug nuts from silver to black. Told my wife, they would mail the correct ones to us and I could swap out my lugs at home. Though they were paid to put them on and do it correctly. This is just part of the dealings with them. They do not represent Honda well at all. Honda corporate should do something about this dealership, it’s making them look bad! This is my 4th Honda and possibly my last. We told the Dealership, we’ve got our suv, but we will be departing as a totally unsatisfied customer, is there anything you’d like to do or say about that. Manager still hasn’t contacted us. At one point the sales and service department had the finance manager call us, cause they knew they had messed up especially asking us to work on it, and didn’t have the guts to call us. They threw it back at his desk cause he was the only one we appreciated doing business with. Mr. Claude is the only one there doing their job! Just a sample, I can’t possibly add all the documented dialogue I had with this poorly ran dealership.

The following is my experience buying a car from Midlands Honda in Columbia, SC.

I purchased a 2017 VW Golf GTI on 12/09/24 for roughly $21k. The salesman drove an hour to pick me up and we arrived after dark where I test drove the vehicle in a light rain. After inspecting the vehicle, we went inside and signed the papers.

The first night I had it, the entire interior flooded through the sunroof. Apparently there are cracks along the frame of the sunroof, so when it rains heavily water pools and leaks through the seal. Water went down the inside of the windshield, dripped onto the dash, the seats, and entertainment system and pooled up on the carpet, especially the passenger side. The screen in the entertainment system was damaged from the water and the sound deadening underneath the carpet of the interior soaked up water like a sponge.

Over the next five days I called no less than ten times and spoke with at least five different people. At least three people took my number and assured me someone would call back. Most sales people hung up when I asked for a sales manager. Eventually, one helpful salesman noticed I had called a number of times and helped me get in contact with a sales manager, who promised to leave my number with the general manager and assured me the GM would call on Monday. This did not happen. I was not asking for them to take the car back, nor was I being unreasonable on the phone. I was not angry, I just wanted to speak to someone of authority about helping to pay for the damage from the leak in the sunroof. I would have even brought it to them for them to see the damage themselves. I do not think that I was being unreasonable, and I would expect that most dealerships with any care for their customers that sold a car without noticing the defective sunroof in their “124 point inspection” that caused a flood would at least have the courtesy to talk to me on the phone. This does not appear to be the case at Midlands Honda.

Shady business practices. My first-time buyer adult son went in with his Dad, he had a terrific credit score and everything went well with the sale, they financed at 6% and everything was fine for six months, in which he paid on time each month. Then they contacted him and told him the original finance company backed out and forced him to refinance at 12% with another company or he would have to bring the car back. Pretty sure this is not legal. Buyer beware with this corrupt and lying company! I asked them about it on Facebook but they deleted my comment and blocked me. Not very professional. These people should not even be in business.

I went in as a first-time car buyer. Brandon was my seller and Summer was the finance person I delt with. I bought a brand new 2023 Honda HRV. It wasn't until I got my first bill that I saw that the loan amount was different than what I agreed to. I went and printed my contract because they give it to you on a flash drive now. I noticed that I had 7,000 dollars’ worth of extra charges on there. Yes 7,000 all because they added 5 warranties My tags were supposed to be transferred but they were not. That was an extra 500 added to my loan. I imminently contacted the finance department. I spoke with Summer, and she stated that she did see anything on her end. She said that she would call me back after she ran some test. What test I have no idea! I knew I was being brushed off because she never calls me back. I went up there yesterday. I spoke with a different finance guy. Still nonchalant and brushed it off like it’s no problem. He stated that the warranties are optional, and I didn't have to get them. He took them off with no problem. That's not the point. What if I had been outside the window to get them taken off? What if I had gone all these years paying for things, I didn't know I had access to? Now I'm stuck with a much higher payment due to the padding of my loan with all these warranties. It is very misleading to tell me my loan amount is one thing but base my payments off the seven thousand extra they added. Signing your contract on an iPad is very misleading. A lot of things that should have been explained were skipped over. Masking warranties as things that atomically come with the car but really, you’re paying for them. The way she explained things was very misleading. There was an entire section skipped over on the iPad. If I didn't print my contact a read it, I would have never known they added warranties for oil changes, paint jobs, and road hazard ect. Everyone is in on it, sales to finance! The sad part is I drove an hour away to get a better deal.
