In 2021, my wife and I hired America's Home Place (AHP) to construct our new home. The actual construction time was lengthy, and at ties, weeks would go by without any workers showing up to work. Finally, our house was completed in February 2022, and we moved in in March 2022. Immediately, we started noticing numerous areas of concern, both cosmetically and structurally. some of the major issues noted began with our gas stovetop. One night, I was preparing to cook for the first time using the stovetop, and as I was going to light the burner, my wife stopped me saying she smelled gas. I opened the cabinet doors underneath the stovetop and was immediately overcome with the smell of gas! Had I attempted to ignite the stove, there could have been an explosion. Further examination of the area revealed that the gas line had been run through a 6" hole in the sheetrock, and had a 5" cover installed to try and cover the hole. To make matters worse, none of the joints in the gas line had been tightened thus causing the gas leak. After having the gas line repaired, we next noticed what appeared to be water marks on the outside wood panels of our island where the kitchen sink and dishwasher are located. After several days, the stains continued to get larger, so I pulled out our dishwasher and immediately noticed that the back left corner of the top of the dishwasher was crushed, as if having been dropped from a high place. Every time we ran the dishwasher, water was shooting out through the damaged area, wetting the inside of the island and causing the stains. There was a large amount of black mold present. The next issue occurred about a month later when our air conditioner froze up. it occurred over a weekend and the only way to keep it working and cooling our house, was for me to stay up all night and defrosting the pipes every time they froze. I did this for 3 days. These are just a few of our issues! There are many more!

    Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/09/20) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Brady, the general manager, contacted me by text message. His view of my complaint was that AHP was not responsible for the erosion that warranted the retaining wall, but he said he would be checking with corporate. Every response I have received states that I should be responsible. The erosion and the need for the installation of the retaining wall WAS a direct result of our house being built on a raised mound of fill dirt, and the poor and incomplete construction of downspouts. I stand by my complaint and wish to continue with it.
