    Horrible Insurance. We only got this health insurance short term until our PEBA insurance kicked in. They automatically re enrolled us after my husband called and cancelled it. We did not find out that they actually kept us enrolled until we received our tax statement! We have not used this insurance at all during the past year because we were told it was cancelled and did have multiple provider appointments that we paid out of pocket for!

    I called from South Carolina and spoke to Denise in the claims department. She is so rude and would not listen to anything I had to say. This needs to be fixed.

    BCBS of SC is the worse insurance. I pay for a PPO and it does not cover any of the Doctors I go to even though they are all employees of Duke Raleigh. They never told me that they were not covered.

    No stars, I had been on hold for 1 hr, 18 mins for a question I need an answer for, thays absolutely ridiculous, I had to hang up because my phone was abt to die

    We apologize for this inconvenience as we were experiencing a phone outage. We have contacted the member and apologized. Additionally, we answered her questions. The phone issue was beyond our control and when we spoke to the member she appreciated our prompt response.

    care is withheld frequently. delays in getting prior authorizations for medications. Have refused surgical procedures that are not elective.

    I'm tired of this insurance. I keep getting preauthorizion on the meds I need. I'm in pain and can't get my meds. I have had this insurance for 3 years. They need to send out medicine that is covered list to doctors offices.

    Four denials for a pre-authorization for various reasons. This has become comical; I can write a book about the chaos of trying to get approved for a brain MRI and a spinal MRI. But the one that got me shaking my head is when they told me that if it is life threatening, no issue to get approved. I told the rep, if she just understood what she just told me, HOW THE HELL WOULD WE KNOW IF IT IS LIFE THREATNING IF WE DO NOT DO AN MRI??? The neurologist wants to know, I want to know!
    They are terrible.

    Customer service representatives are incompetent or well trained to appear so. They paid for two medications that i have been on for over 15 years the first year with them. The second year claimed that the dosage was too high and denied. These medications are for mental health and the dosages were painstakingly arrived at through years of trial and error.
    Next, they denied my wife's mammogram. First representative could not explain why. said she would have someone get back to us, but no one ever did. The second representative we spoke with told us it was out of network, but they covered it the previous year and covered her annual exam at the same place on the same day. When we explained this, the representative, Tanisha, said she needed to put us on hold to investigate. She came back on the line to say she was continuing to investigate and would put us on hold 3 times. After 34 minutes of hold she hung up.
    As an attorney in practice for over 34 years, I have dealt with insurance companies and claim issues on a regular basis. The way this company plays the "deny, distract and delay" game is legendary and most likely fraudulent.

    My wife had stroke and fell down the stairs causing traumatic brain injury, see had emergency brain surgery and was hot supposed to live. Miraculously see started waking up after 30 days in acoma.To make a long story short $500.000 in hospital bills and bcbs South Carolina refuses to pay and has never paid they said it was her fault she fell down the stairs because no way to prove she had stroke before or after she fell.I know sounds ridiculous but its very true any has been an absolute nightmare on top of wife almost dying and now being disabled i have over half million in hospital bills .If you have a choice please don't use this company they are the worst insurance company for many reasons other than this you could have.

    Imagine being diagnosed with an incurable disease that requires treatment. Before you start treatment, the doctor orders MRI's of the affected area to see how much and what kind of treatment you need. The day before the mri, the insurance company (that you pay good money for) informs you that the mri isn't medically necessary because they don't think enough damage has occurred for an image to be taken. Imagine knowing you need these MRI's done yearly to see how your disease is progressing and you are denied getting a picture taken to actually see the inside of your body every time. Deny, delay, deny, delay. That is bcbs sc...people with legitimate health care needs viewed as numbers on a spreadsheet. Well-read, well-educated shareholders discussing revenue and profits, but never about meeting the needs or expectations of people enrolled in their health care plans. Human lives are nothing more than revenue and profit. Sad...
