The Company (ESC Elevator) determined in March 2024 that our 13 year old residential elevator needed to have all 4 main load rollers replaced. The repairs cost $1980 (of which about $500 was for labor and the balance for parts). The Company tech arrived to do the work at the end of March 2024 and told us all 4 rollers were replaced and that the elevator was in good working order. In March 2025, ESC did an annual inspection and maintenance at a cost of around $350 and said all was in good working order. In May 2025, we contacted ESC because the elevator was not working properly. A service tech arrived to evaluate the problem and the next day ESC advised us that we again needed to have all 4 rollers replaced. We asked why the new rollers had failed so soon and the president of the company said he had no idea. When we asked for information regarding the manufacturer and specifications for the rollers, ESC refused to provide any information. Given the lack of transparency, we hired another company (*********** *********) to check out our problems. When the tech arrived, he almost immediately told us that 2 of the load rollers were new and in good shape but that the other 2 were the initially installed rollers and were completely worn out. The tech confirmed to us that this problem is basically obvious upon visual inspection. We paid the company over $1200 to replace the 2 bad rollers. We requested that ESC reimburse us for our damages but it has refused to do so. ESC has never explained why they didn’t tell us that only 2 rollers had been replaced and have been slow and difficult to deal with on this issue. It appears, based on the facts we now know, that ESC has tried to conceal and hide from us the errors it initially made. And ESC has refused to return monies paid to them for faulty work or work performed under false pretenses.
