I was trying to find a room for my daughter who left her college in ** ahead of the hurricane. It was 10 p.m. and she had been driving and all the hotels I check on 95 were sold out. I went to ********** and found one hotel, so I hurried and created an account, a long process, while trying to get the last room they had. It was a 40 minute drive from the interstate. I booked the room and then tried to call the hotel. No one answered, but it said if you were a guest to press 1. So I did and was then sent to voicemail. The ********** site listed the hotel had 24/7 front desk service. I called ********** to see how my daughter could check in. They called the hotel and no one answered. They said they would try to get my money refunded. After going back and forth a million times, I learned 6 days later that a person who works at the hotel, *****, sent a text message with how to get into the hotel. The issue was, the phone number I entered on the ********** platform was wrong by one digit. I was NEVER told that the instructions would be sent via TEXT message and that no one was there to let her in. The hotel has tried to place 100 percent blame on me. Did they call me back the night I called, NO! Did they check to confirm I received the text?? NO! I've been told to take responsibility because my phone number was wrong. I am 57 years old and traveling all over the world and NEVER have I received instructions via a text message and a TEXT ONLY, but checking into a room. I never agreed to have a text sent to my phone. I am out almost $300.00 and this hotel needs to learn about CUSTOMER SERVICE and ********** NEEDS to get the hotel information correct. I own I typed my number in wrong, but I didn't want to create a whole long account anyway, just to get a room and I was NEVER told my checkin information would be VIA a TEXT ON MY CELL PHONE. STAY AWAY from this place! They clearly don't care about anything but the money.
