My wife and I went on *** ***** **** to look at a **** ***** ***** for our 19 year old daughter, we had been in contact with the owner *** ******* the previous day about the car, *** assured us the car ran perfectly, it had a small fender ***der in the side of the car but mechanically the car was sound.
On the **** ** *** we went to Aiken to look at the car more in depth, my dad came along with us to ensure the car wasn't a lemon. After we looked at the car and drove it two minutes down the road, it didn't appear to have any issues, *** (mechanic) told us the car works great and he'd give us his number if anything was wrong with the car at all. So we were happy, the business seemed legit. We paid $3200 and took the car, we drove the car 30 minutes (trying to go home) and the car completely died and would not start back up, we called *** ******* and he sent *** to get the car. Both *** and *** told us No matter what they would make it right. Fast forward 3 weeks, *** and *** still have the car at their shop, (we have never taken the car to our house) I'd call daily to ask about the car and every day something else would come up wrong with the car and they would both say, give us another day. Finally at the end of the 3rd week, I called *** and said he had the car almost a month and something is telling me to pull out of the deal. *** told me that was not an option and I don't get to make such demands. *** told me "*** his mechanic and the ******* car was ******* him off because of how much it has cost him". He got rude and hateful with me.
Next day all of a sudden the car is conveniently "fixed", *** and *** both show up in my driveway with the car and title and left it there. My wife and I both tried calling *** and *** and now we are in **** and STILL haven't heard from either of them. And the car they dropped off doesn't work and hasn't worked since they dropped it off at my home. It is now at another mechanic shop because *** won't answer and ***'s phone is disconnected. I am out of $3,200 and a car because of this ******** business.

    Business Response

    Date: 07/26/2023

Ms. ******* bought a **** ***** ***** from my dealership. It is a 20 year old vehicle, and it was sold 'As Is,' which is the case with every vehicle I sell (unless expressly notified otherwise, which is very rare) and Ms. ******* was both verbally informed of that policy and signed a buyers guide that further confirmed the vehicle being sold 'As Is.' Shortly after taking delivery of the vehicle, Ms. ******* called and said she was having an issue with it cutting off. I assured her that although I was under no obligation to fix it I would, especially given the proximity of the issue in relation to the purchase, to which she seemed satisfied and grateful. It was pouring rain on a Saturday, and although we had closed for the weekend my business partner and I went and moved the car, then picked it up on Monday. After diagnosing the issue we informed her that it would take a few days to get the parts needed and offered her another vehicle if she needed transportation, to which she declined and said she didn't mind if it took time as long as it was fixed correctly. After a day or two my business partner informed me that she decided she didn't want to wait any longer and that she was talking about going to find another vehicle. I called and spoke with both her and her father, and explained again that the vehicle was sold as is, that they were the owner of the vehicle after she took delivery, and that we were fixing the vehicle despite no obligation to do so. Both seemed fine and thanked me again for helping them out. A few days later Ms. ******* called back my business partner and said she didn't want the car anymore, despite the fact that we were almost finished with the repair. After I was informed of this, I explained to her once again that she owned the vehicle and that we would be delivering it to her upon completion as we had promised. When we delivered the car she would not come out and speak to me, so I gave the keys to her father, who then told me to wait because she wanted to talk to me, but he could not convince her to come out of the house. He agreed that we had done what was promised, and that is the last I had heard of this matter until your correspondence. I truly feel that we went over and beyond what was required in this situation, only to receive this complaint later. I appreciate your attention to this matter and will gladly provide anything else needed to get it cleared up.

    Thank You,

    ******** *******
