I have purchased a PERPETUAL software license for ********************** version 18. They have since upgraded a few times and moved to a yearly subscription-based license on the new licenses. I attempted to move my perpetual license to a new laptop and ********************** locks the license. They then state that it is unsupported and want to sell the new license. I do not understand how they can lock a purchased license and hold a user hostage to purchase a new license instead. The yearly cost is 50% higher than the perpetual license was for a one time purchase. When they sold the perpetual license there is no statement of locking the software. Just that it may be unsupported.

In accordance with the terms of the **** (End User License Agreement) accepted by this individual, the Software will only continue to operate on the same computer with the same operating system on which it was installed or properly transferred to prior to its end of life published on the Minitab Support page.  After end of life, the software cannot be reactivated on any computer.

Reactivation requires Minitab to have access to specific ********* activation servers.Unfortunately, the applicable activation servers were permanently decommissioned by ********************* on December 31, 2020, when Minitab 18 reached end of life.

Since that date, it has been and remains impossible to activate or reactivate any customer license of ********************** Statistical Software 18; but to be clear, the version of Minitab Statistical Software 18 is perpetual and would continue to operate if it had remained on the same computer with the same operating system as of December 31, 2020.

Company will not support perpetual license for purchased software when replacing the computer that the software runs on forcing the owner to upgrade at a substantial price increase. If a customer (***********************) decides not to upgrade all historical files created by the software in support of ***************** customer support is not ********************************* **** should support perpetual licensing that their customer base paid for so that files can be accessed.
