      A & R was to replace 17 sidewalk blocks and a driveway apron for $7,500. Contract signed 9/5/24. Work started 9/9/24. Main complaint is that ***** broke off our sewer vent in the driveway apron, filled and buried it with dirt and would have poured concrete over it unless I had caught the problem. A & R repaired the top of the vent pipe but failed to unclog it, which was not evident until sewage started backing up in my basement a few days after the job was done. Two crew members came out and looked at the vent, then left. I sent email to A & R explaining the situation and that I would have to call a plumber to fix the situation, but I did not hear back. (I had already paid for the job before discovering that the sewer trap was clogged). I had to pay $1,179 to have the problem fixed. I hired Liberty Sewer on Sept 16 for $79, who used power drain auger equipment but could not get through the clog. They said their tool heads were getting polished by the blockage, consistent with sand or rock. I sent email to A & R with an update and did not hear back. Liberty recommended ***** Reliable Plumbing, who unclogged the trap with a hydro-jet for $750, noting Trap was very heavily clogged with dirt and ***** mud. Was able to clear with jet, put very large amounts of water down drain. It cost $350 more to have the damaged vent cap cut out of the concrete and replaced (again from ***** Reliable Plumbing). Via several emails and a phone call starting on Sept 26, I itemized the above for A & R and asked to be reimbursed $1,179. On Oct 8, I sent another email, which the ***** manager responded to and said she would meet me the following week. When I got no response, I emailed again on Oct 16 and Oct 21, again to no response. A secondary complaint is that although the contract said cleanup 100%, the cleanup was very unprofessional, even after I called for a secondary cleanup: concrete on trees and bushes, deck nails, gravel, slag, hardened concrete, etc.

      They did not finish the job the driveway was to be patched after the concrete sidewalk was repaired. It was part of the agreement. Have been calling for months and they do not answer their phone or return calls. Tried going to both of their offices never there. Want the work completed!!!

      I contracted with ***** to remove and replace an 8' x 17' patio pad, remove and replace the threshold and power wash the back flagstone patio, power wash the siding and garage door.His folks did the work, not very well but they completed the power washing and pad but DID NOT FINISH the threshold. The end nearest the door is unfinished and not level - the water drains to the door, not away.I have called many times, and ******* has said that they would be back on Tues, Aug 29 and Sep 1 but no one showed up. On my latest conversation with her on Sep 1, she said that ***** would call me. He has not. I called again today and left a message since no one answered the phone.I have paid the bill in full. $3600 for a sloppy and potentially destructive job.What can I do about this irresponsible behavior?

      July 15, 2022 we signed a contract with A&R Concrete & Masonry, ###-###-####, 101 Pine St. Bldg **, Holmes, PA 19043, to remove old cracked & sloping concrete that made water run directly into the foundation of my home.It was 16x23.We contracted to have it replaced with a bigger concrete patio, for $7,300.00.The work began on August 25, 2022.The work A&R did was very poor quality.Half of the newly poured concrete had a finish that looked like it was done by incompetent workers or an 10 year old with an old shoe.Anything that falls on concrete, like falling leaves, stains the concrete.Before the end of August I saw a crack in the new concrete.I made several phone calls to A&R, occasionally they answered the phone, however mostly I left a voicemail.On a couple different occasions they said they would send Ronny out to see the problem.Ronny was the supervisor of the men that actually poured, leveled & smoothed the concrete.Ronny never showed, nor did anyone else from the company.Then we noticed their sign in a neighbors yard, so we decided to watch & wait for Craig or Ronny to show up for their project.After several weeks, Ronny showed at the neighbors worksite. He came over to look at the crack & the poor appearance.Ronny told us that concrete will crack It is the trait of concrete no matter how recent the concrete was poured.We asked what are you going to do about my two issues.He said he would call Craig, the owner & boss of A&R.Ronny appeared to be a trustworthy man, so we thought he actually would do what he said he'd do.As we continued to tell Ronny about the poor job they did, Ronny began to get angry and he stormed away, returning to the neighbors project.To date we have not heard from Craig, Ronny or anyone else from A&R. Craig was quick to pick up the deposit & final payment, but he has not contacted us or done anything to fix the problems. I wish I hadn't done this project & still had the old cracked sloping concrete & $7,300 back in my bank account

      On May 31 2022 A&R concrete began tearing up our back patio and retaining wall. In doing so they damaged the neighbors wall that was connected to ours. When the neighbors called the borough to complain, the borough realized there were never any permits applied for the work by A&R concrete. The borough immediately shut the job down and our front and back were left completely torn up. We couldn't even get in our house easily because both sets of steps were demolished. A&R concrete was fined hundreds of dollars by the borough to which I have copies of the citations in my possession. As the job laid dormant for about a month we were at least able to get a permit for the front and back steps. The back steps were done so poorly that the concrete is already falling apart. I can provide pictures if needed. After the steps were poured weeks went by with no communication from Craig P********* the owner of the company despite countless phone calls and text messages. As of July 26 2022 I fired A&R concrete from our job due to abandonment and lack of communication. Now we are left with finding another contractor and also having to remove spilled cement on our doors and all our outdoor furniture. They caused substantial friction between me and my neighbors because of what they did to the wall, not to mention the cost I have to endure to repair it. The unprofessional matter in which they conducted themselves is a disgrace, I literally had to break up a fight on my front lawn between workers. Thank you for your time in reading this
