The summer of 2021 Garvin construction installed a metal roof on my home. After completion there were several shortcomings in the workmanship that needed repairs and cleanup. It was suggested to me to pay the remainder of the bill but withhold $1000 until the work was completed to my satisfaction and am glad I did because they were very slow in doing so and I had to have them back several times to do so. After some time I was satisfied and paid the remainder of the bill in full. Labor day weekend my home developed a leak. The contract is a 10 year warranty on workmanship so I have been trying to get ahold of them unsuccessfully leaving messages with the receptionist and on voicemail with the CFO who apparently is to busy to call back.Business response

I had a metal roof installed in September of 2017 By Garvin. There have been leaks in the roof ever since. First the skylight in the kitchen, several times, then the skylight in the living room repeatedly, then the gasket around the chimney, and then the entire side of the house above the kitchen. They put a tarp over that in the spring and it is still there. When in rained yesterday 9/5/2022 I noticed the water is coming down from under the metal roof - fortunately it was installed over the existing roof but that lets it escape behind the gutter.Their website has your logo on it but I see that is false advertising.It seems they would not respond to complaints about leaks - while my kitchen or living room floor was covered with wet ***** **** - until I posted a negative review on the internet. Now that is not having any effect either. I can provide photos of the damage and roof with the tarp on it.Business response

I am rejecting this response because:I received your email stating that my complaint has been closed. I do not understand this. The contractor has a history of claiming that complaints have been satisfied when he has not had any communication with the complainant.He sent workers to repair the roof but did not complete the repair. He was not going to take any action to repair the roof if I had not filed the complaint with the BBB.His website still indicates he has your seal of approval.Do I need to file a new complaint regarding the incomplete work done to repair the roof?

I hired Garvin to fix and replace an existing roof. They totally screwed up the first time and had to come back and redo it. This time they stole our personal tools. I was able to recover them however the roof is worse than before they even touched it. When it rains, it rains inside now! I put up an honest ****** review with a few photos and immediately they contacted me. Promised to fix only if I took down the review! They are now dogging me and not standing behind the warranty!Business response

Once we have the materials in stock we will reach out to her and schedule the work. Metal roof installation 1. completed November 2020 2. Paid $25,719 3. terms: remove shingles and install new metal roof 4. The roof leaked at the 2 plumbing vents and the gutters weren't hung correctly (removed & reinstalled during roof install). After repeated calls, service was done to attempt to fix the leaks. 1 leak remains and the gutters have yet to be installed properly. My phone calls for service are not returned.5. The company has come back for a repair attempt but hasn't returned after I notified them that the issue remains.Business response

Customer had a leak covered by his warranty. We sent a tech down to repair it. ***** from our office spoke with ************** and customer believed every thing was handled.
We will be on standby if customer needs to reach back to us if the warranty repair did not hold up.

hired garvin to install standing seem metal roof, details were to be a high quality long lasting hidden fastener style standing seem roof, first install happened in October 2020, roof was installed with all exposed fasteners, In November new components were replaced to remove exposed fasteners but still just used pop rivets in an incorrect manor to install what should be the correct product, also the roof is a Hip style ranch roof that requires a ridge vent, the original roof had a full length ridge vent, the new roof has no ridge vent which leads to excessive heat and humidity and eventually mold. Also roofing materials were not installed to manufacture installation specs, and very poor quality craftmanship. after second install all scrap material and garbage was left at residence and in rain gutters. After many attempts at getting resolution all communications have stopped on Garvins part. There are many more components left to this complaint but space will not allow.Initial Complaint

*************************-Project manager came to our home and sold us on the company and a metal roof. We were told it would take 3-4 days. They started on June 1, 2021. They sent 4 out of 5 incorrect size skylights. After working 11 consecutive days they did not have enough supplies to complete our roof. They did a "make it fit" with the wrong size skylights. We get calls saying someone is coming to fix the skylights or someone is coming to finish the job and know one shows up. Today is day 18 from the start of the job and we still have one skylight that has to be changed "wrong size of coarse" and ons side of the house to be roofed. We've again gotten calls that people are coming and its 11:30 am and they are a no show again. The 5 phone numbers we have for them go to voice mail. They are a very expensive company, the crew worked great with what they had to work with. No complaints with the roofing job that is complete as of today however the managements communication is HORRIBLE.Business response

We have been in constant contact with this customer.
This is a large project and we discovered some additional special order materials were needed. Those materials were obtained and the project is at substantial completion. There are a couple of punch out items needed to complete and the customer is aware of them.
In addition to the original contract, there were 5 skylights installed on new curbs that coincided with the installation of a new metal roof. Garvin sent a carpentry crew out to trim out the interior of the new skylights. This was completed at no additional cost to the homeowner.
We expect to have the project at 100% completion no later than July 15, 2021.

On July 14, 2021 Both **** & *** (Garvin employees) came and re-flashed both skylights and said the job was complete. On July 17 the roof leaked again. The job is NOT complete.Regards,

We are aware of the situation and been in contact with the homeowner. We have ordered 2 new skylights at the customer's request.
They should be in by August 20, 2021 and be ready us to schedule with home owner to complete the work.
We should be able to satisfy our installation obligations by August 25, 2021

I am rejecting this response because: First, I've asked for the 2 skylights to be changed because water has leaked from both and that whole side of the roof redone. The last rain storm water did not come from the window but a foot to the left of the right window. Second, I have asked that they tarp the roof where the skylights and leaks have been since I do not want to keep plastic tarps and buckets in my living room for another month! Still waiting for the tarp. I also sent a photo to the contractor of the interior trim that was done that now has bubbles in them.

I am rejecting this response because:We are still waiting to get a tarp. Anytime it storms, rain comes into our living room, damaging our furniture. I am going on a trip in a little over a week, and I would like a tarp up before I go.

I am rejecting this response because: Yes they said it was complete. Then on 3-7-2022 the roof leaked and caused damage to carpet and brand new couches. They paid to have carpet and couch cleaned. They put a tarp on the roof on 3-8-22 and came to do repairs on 5-9-22. On 6-1-22 the roof leaked in the same area again. On 6-4 the roof had a tarp on again. They started repairs 8-11-22 and completed on 9-1-22. On 12-05-22 leak in same are, coming in from skylight. Continued damage to couch that was brand new on 2021. Repairs started on 12-6-22 to 12-9-22 on roof. I sent photos of the damage to sectional with cost for a replacement and I am still waiting for a response from Patrick. Repair specialist said he doesn't know how to fix the problem and will look into it and get back to us. We haven't heard anything since 12-09-22.
