I called Bilger in July 2021 to ask them why my health insurance told me I didnt have to make my monthly *************** had credit me back my June payment. and if I needed to do anything. I was told dont worry about it bc it was a credit everyone was getting. I wasnt put on hold or called back after someone double checked. They rattled off it was a credit and that was that. Big surprise when I filed my taxes in April 2022 I owe the *** $2,085 (more now bc of penalties since I dont have $2,000 in my back pocket) bc it was NOT a tax credit for everyone. They waited till I picked my taxes up after being filed to tell me I had to adjust my income!!!! The owner was standing there when I picked up my taxes and i was questioning why I owed so much and all he told me was dont make a payment plan, just keep paying them little installments bc itll cost less in penalties. That was his advice. I paid them over $400 to have my taxes done, it would be nice to either get an apology for THEIR mess up or to have them try to make amends in some way. I would love to get the money back for what I paid for them to do my taxes or the irs paid as I did call and ask and did what I was supposed to do where they did not do their job as my accountant. This would be entirely different if I had NOT called in ******************************************** July that I didnt have to pay them anymore. Im horrible at taxes/math. Thats why I paid them to do a job and they didnt come through on. Id really like them to have pay something towards their mistake. This was pure negligence on their part. And no accountability has been taken. Then this year, after I not only wrote a review about them, but have emailed with them not to contact me, they contacted me AGAIN last month about getting my taxes done this year. I told them I would not be returning bc of how they handled it and now they harass me by email!

     Complaint: 19393085

I am rejecting this response because:
********************************** told me not to worry about my insurance telling me i did not have to pay my insurance anymore. I had called his office to see if it would affect my taxes for 2022  and if I needed to change anything, his office said no, it was a credit everyone was getting. There was no hesitation, i was not even placed on hold for that information to be checked.  Only to find out at tax time it was not a credit everyone was receiving and I did not qualify for it. ********************************** was negligent in giving advice and obviously they did not follow their boss rules of not giving out information about health insurance since I was given advice vs being told to contact my health care provider. Even now, *** ********************** continues to deflect and deny responsibility for this incident. If he is stating they dont give advice about health insurance even pertaining to taxes and owing for taxes, then why is his office giving advice verses sending someone to their health care provider? Thats inappropriate and they are then liable for the errors that are a direct result of their negligence.

As far as the fees Ive incurred, I didnt have over $2,000 to pay back the irs at that time and that incurs late fees/penalties. Which the ***** is owed bc of the faulty advice I was given by **********************s office. *** ********************** himself told me not to even file an extension on payment bc if I just kept paying the irs as I went, the fees would be less. Who says that to an angry client instead of resolving the conflict? Not to mention having to pay **********************s office fee which I should not have been made to pay due to their error.

*** **********************s Office needs to be held accountable and responsible for their negligence when handling my taxes.

    Regards,

    ********* ******
