Ciriello contracting completed a driveway and wall installation around 11/28/2023, Approximately 3 months later I contacted **** and told him about a crack that has appeared in the concrete. I was told it was a hairline aesthetic crack and it is the nature of concrete, and that he would send someone to repair it. I have been emailing since. The crack has expanded and spurred off and is now chipping. He sent someone out 04/24/2025 to put caulk in the cracks, but even his worker agreed that this is well beyond a hairline and is completely through the concrete. I am writing to have this new concrete section replaced properly.

Bill emailed me 2/8/24 about a very feint hairline crack. I have attached a picture of what was sent to me. I recommended to leave it alone since it was barely visible at all. I responded that hairline cracks are possible with concrete for a number of reasons. **** never responded after that and did not say anything otherwise. There was no more communication until this year. He reached out to me on 1/27/25, about the crack becoming slightly more visible into a hairline crack. This is roughly 15 months after the job date. I have attached what was sent to me. I responded and offered to repair the crack by grinding out the crack and seal with limestone caulking (or a cement patch), but I recommended the caulking as its a better seal. He agreed to this through email, and I had to wait for dry and warmer weather to apply the caulking. I let **** know all of this through email and everything was agreed to with no problems. My employee went to perform the repair work on 4/24/25, but was not able to complete the work. **** informed me that he wanted the entire front section of the driveway replaced because of this hairline crack. I refused this and now he is threatening a lawsuit. I have been in constant communication with him when he has reached out, and offered the repair free of charge. I have never ignored his emails and have always given timely responses, with detailed responses about the hairline crack. The only wait was for the weather to get better, as the repair could not be done in the winter. His complaint is insinuating I have been ignoring him for a year, which is not the case. And my worker did not agree that is it beyond a hairline crack, (along with English being his 2nd language), so I believe this to be a lie. I talked to my worker the next day and he agreed that is a small hairline crack, just as shown in the 2nd attached picture.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

This "faint hairline crack" that is eluded to was reported less than 2 months following the completion of the job. **** did suggest that he could have someone come out and repair it at his convenience once the weather was nicer and between other jobs. I trusted him so felt no more correspondence was needed as he would be resolving the issue.

The problem is this supposed " faint hairline crack" has grown. It is now through the concrete and spreading as well as chipping, so this issue, in my opinion  that started right after the concrete was poured, that i contacted **** about as soon as it was noticed (I don't usually check my new driveway for cracks) is becoming increasingly worst by the day and will obviously need replaced in the near future.

This is something I saved up to have done for a significant amount of time, and spent quite a bit of money on. I don't think it is too much to ask to have a driveway without cracks for at least a few months. Personally, although it cannot be proven now, I believe the concrete was poured too thin in this spot, and that it was finished too quickly resulting in the large spreading crack you will see in the attached photos.

I am not asking for the ENTIRE driveway to be redone, but I do believe that the only resolution to this ongoing cracking issue that is obviously spreading and becoming worst is to replace this section.

    Regards,

    **** *****

I went here on 6/3/25 to repair the hairline crack with a concrete sealant. I believe this was a reasonable repair. I have attached the picture of the repair.
