Date of Transaction: June 12th, 2025 The amount of money paid: $604.00 The Business committed to provide a root canal, even though my tooth was so cracked it needed to be extracted Nature of Dispute: My tooth was cracked and loose when I arrived at the office. I relayed that information to 3 people when I arrived and when I made the appointment. When I was forced to get xrays I had already paid for and sent over from another practice, the crack was evident on the xray and the root canal was still performed. When I went to get a crown, I was informed a root canal should have never been performed as it made my tooth worse and risk for infection increased. I should have been told that the crack was so bad it needed to be extracted. Resolution: I was given a partial refund and they refuse to admit they should have told me the full nature of my tooth as I went in only knowing what I was told and I trusted them to give me the full picture of what I needed done.

Patient Aaryonna ******-******** was referred to our office by Aspen Dental for evaluation of teeth #4, 8, and 9. On 6/12/25, a full exam and imaging were completed. Based on clinical findings, a root canal for tooth #4 was recommended. The patient was informed of all treatment options, including no treatment, and signed a consent form that clearly noted the possibility of tooth fracture as a risk.

The root canal was performed, and the patient was instructed to follow up with her general dentist (GD) for final restoration. During a post-op call on 6/13/25, the patient reported feeling much better and had no complaints.
On 7/1/25, the patient called stating she believed the tooth should have been extracted instead and requested a refund. We contacted ************ and confirmed she had been appropriately referred for endodontic evaluation of tooth #4. Despite this, the patient insisted Aspen Dental told her the tooth was now fractured and advised her to request a refund or file a BBB complaint.

After review, our office agreed to refund the copay of $349 in good faith due to the fracture occurring shortly after treatment. The patient signed a Resolution Agreement and was issued the refund on 7/3/25.
On 7/10/25, the patients husband called demanding an additional $255 refund for imaging. It was explained that imaging was necessary and appropriate, as the referral was for evaluation of three teeth. The caller became agitated and threatened negative reviews and a BBB complaint.
We believe we acted ethically and professionally at all stages, provided appropriate care, and issued a refund beyond what was required as a goodwill gesture.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 08/07/2025

      I reject this business response.

I have x-ray proof that my tooth was cracked vertically and horizontally upon my visit to Three Rivers Endodontics. Given that my tooth was cracked that severely, I now know that an extraction was the only course of action that should have been taken, per several dentists' expertise. While I am aware that I was referred there for a root canal, I trusted that this place was working in my best interest for me to  make an informed decision.

I was not told the truth and instead, a root canal was performed making the situation much worse. Not only that, I left without a crown after the root canal, which they couldn't do, because of how bad the crack in my tooth was. So to say that my tooth was fine when I left, is not only a lie, but it's incompetence. And considering they still performed the root canal anyway, the least they could have done was give me a full refund when I told them my tooth was loose several times before they began.

Upon getting the extraction done from a qualified dentist, my new team is still shocked and appalled that I was mishandled and mistreated given the x-ray photos that were taken.

I will be contacting the Attorney General because the lack of accountability from this establishment is disgusting.
