    Subject: Response to Complaint Decks Decks Decks Request for Dismissal

    Dear BBB Representative,

    We are writing in response to the recent complaint submitted by ****** *****, which corresponds with a negative and misleading ****** review posted by the same individual.

    After careful internal review, we confirm that this individual did receive services from our business; however, he has been consistently non-cooperative throughout the engagement. When we became aware of his concerns, we made multiple attempts to reach out to him and address the issue professionally. Unfortunately, he has refused to communicate constructively and continues to post defamatory remarks online. In fact, he has publicly stated his intention to submit another review under his wifes name, which we believe demonstrates a deliberate effort to harass and damage our business reputation.

    Our company has built a strong and trustworthy reputation, reflected in our 4.8-star average rating on ******. Since 1989 , we have maintained a good accreditation status with A+ business practices for a long time with the better business bureau. we have served clients and received numerous five-star reviews, all highlighting the quality of our work and the professionalism of our team, over decades and generations within the family.

    We would like to lastly note Mr. ****** never made any comments about the work until presented the final bill, and then after noticing the price change in his several expensive upgrades, aprox. $10,000.00 over the originally quoted estimate. This is all documented well through text message and we will be pursuing civil charges on the homeowner for a remaining balance of $3,600.00 after extensive conversation within the company all the way down to the field laborer, there has been an attempt to delay work keeping garage door locked  and payments over 20x, with bounced checks one totaling over $25,000.00, but we treat every customer with the same respect and it is our policy to normally never make the customer sign new estimates for change orders ( added new steps and fascia ) as a convince and privilege,  Mr. ****** abused, there is a timeline to correspond all these events and to reflect the positive attitude the customer had until faced with a final payment that he either refuses to pay or is in insufficient funds to be able to pay thus resulting in this defamation of this company. Mr. ****** is angry and we did all we could to please him and still will stand by our reputation and warranties, and are even willing to negotiate a zero interest payment plan for him.

    We respectfully request the BBB to consider this context and disregard the complaint, as it appears to be part of a continued attempt to misrepresent the situation and undermine our credibility without engaging in any sincere effort to resolve the matter.

    Please let us know if you require any further information or supporting documentation. we believe there is a balance due of $3,600.00 not the other way around this family refuses to answer the text e mail and phone calls , we never had the opportunity , to communicate at the end of project once final bill was submitted , we do not feel safe , to enter this home ever again .

    I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

    Avoid Decks Decks Deck Unprofessional and Dishonest Experience
    1. Red flags from the start
    The owner, *** was given a post-dated check for the deposit. Instead of holding it, he immediately attempted to cash it, leaving us stranded on vacation with a $25,000 overdraft on our account. That was the first sign something was off.
    2. Facia fiasco
    Over halfway through the project, ** asked, Do you want facia?despite our original deck having it and my having referred to it as "siding" or "cladding" during the estimate. After explaining it should obviously be replaced, he claimed our old deck didn't have facia. I had to send him photos to prove otherwise. Not only had he failed to include it in the estimate, but his crew had already cut the deck boards too short to install it properly. His first quote for adding itimproperlywas $4,600. I asked him to reconsider his price since this was his oversight. He only ever provided a vague ***** dollar materials estimate via text and said he and ** would put their heads together to figure out labor. I did not receive a final estimate until the deck was complete. 
    3. Cutting corners on structure
    We were reusing the original frame, but I specifically asked that damaged joists be replaced. After demo, I counted at least 10 damaged 2x8s. ** ordered replacements, but when decking began, the new boards were still sitting untouched. Instead of replacing the damaged joists, they patched them with 2x4s. 
    4. Garage misuse and miscommunication
    I allowed the crew to store tools and charge batteries in my garage. Later, ** (the owner's son) accused me of locking them outwhen in fact they had unplugged my garage door opener to plug in their charger, preventing remote access. They also repeatedly disconnected the door from the track without informing me.
    5. Surprise charges and shifting estimates
    Despite all the above, we were willing to let it go since my wife was generally happy with the appearance of the deck. But at the final meeting, ** presented a final bill that was full of surprises:
    Facia: $4,680 (never officially quoted)
    Steps: increased from the originally quoted $1,500 to $1,790
    I paid for the facia immediately and told ** I needed to speak with my wife about the additional costs, as we were borrowing the money. ** agreed, but then added that he'd get back to me in a few days with yet another "final estimate."
    6. Dishonest invoicing
    What I received via email was our original signed estimate, but with the railing cost increased by more than ***** dollars no explanation, just an altered document. I responded, stating that this was unprofessional. With 30+ years in the business, estimating railing for a square deck shouldn't be a surprise. I had already paid for the ***** and agreed to the extra for the steps. But the way he tried to sneak in the railing upcharge without discussion crossed the line.
    7. Threats and harassment
    Apparently, my email wasnt reador ignored. Two days later, **, with whom Id barely communicated, texted me threatening to start removing pieces from my deck and drag me to court if I didnt pay. I responded bluntly, F*** you, and warned ** that if his son contacted me again, Id involve the police.
    The next morning, after learning I wasnt backing down, ** began sending a series of bizarre, unprofessional, and personal texts attacking me, my wife, and even our kidsthree days after ** had accepted an additional $4,600 from us.
    8. Radio silence
    After sharing the message thread with *** ** finally stopped texting. Calls to both men have since gone unanswered.
    9. Reviews and safety concerns
    I left a simple review on ******. Their first response was, strange, unfair, untrue. Later, they replaced it with what looks like an AI-generated apology and a plea for reconsideration. Meanwhile, my wife no longer feels safe at home. The back window of a friends truck (parked in our driveway) was mysteriously shattered shortly after all this unfolded. Weve since installed security cameras.
    10. Poor workmanship and warranty issues
    The faciawhich I overpaid foris already warping. Some screws are protruding, and the tops of some boards are now visible from the side. I've reached out to ****, since this company is listed as a Platinum Pro installer. Judging by Trex complete lack of respond, That designation appears to be meaningless.


    Final Thoughts
    Decks Decks Deck is a disaster. ** may be friendly, but hes either disorganized or deliberately misleading. ** is aggressively unprofessional and unhinged. I would never recommend this company. We are stuck with a nearly ****** dollar poorly constructed deck and apparently no warranty. I wouldnt trust ** to mow my lawn, let alone work on your home. Proceed with extreme cautionor better yet, take your business elsewhere.
