- Pending Government Action:Government Action: BBB reports on known government actions involving business’ marketplace conduct:ATTORNEY GENERAL SHAPIRO TAKES ACTION AGAINST USED CAR DEALERSHIP VIOLATING CONSUMER PROTECTION LAW
The following describes a pending government action that has been formally brought by a government agency but has not yet been resolved. We are providing a summary of the governments allegations, which have not yet been proven.
On July 22, 2022, the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General announced the legal action taken against JK Motor Cars and its managing member, Jaison Kelly for violating consumer protection law.
The suit alleges that JK Motor Cars and Mr. Kelly marketed and sold unroadworthy cars and failed to disclose serious problems with the vehicles prior to sale. The suit further alleges that JK Motor Cars misrepresented the cars as being sold with a “dealer warranty.” However, when issues were discovered with the cars they purchased, consumers were told that they actually purchased the car “as is” with limited third-party coverage.
Consumers who believe they may have purchased a car that isn’t roadworthy should file a complaint with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General’s Bureau of Consumer Protection at www.attorneygeneral.gov or calling 1-800-441-2555.
