I was sold a car that was not road worthy by Philly Auto. Car was purchased on 5/2/25. On 5/3/25 less than 24 hours after purchase check engine light came on and a malfunction indication. Called the dealership in real time and was directed to bring in the car on Monday 5/5/2025. Car was dropped off at 9:30 and 6pm received a call stating the car needed a new transmission. I explained that I did not want a car that needed a new transmission and that the car should have never been sold in that condition. I asked to get another car the general manager indicated that could not be done. I asked to return and cancel the deal he stated that could not be done. I contacted *********** the lender and they indicated it could be done because the deal was recently done. In addition the dealership did not put inspections on the car before I left the lot, I questioned this and they said it was ok to drive it and to come back to put the inspection on. The car would not have passed inspection and they knowingly sold me a car that was not road worthy.Initial Complaint

I purchased a car through ************, but went to refinance my car through another lender and found out my car was tampered with with themileage that I was not aware of and had structural damage that I o wasnt aware of. Im seeking for them to get me out of my loan because of false pretenses of the car being a good car plus mileage was not accurate and was tampered with and I found that with a different lender when they ran a hard inquiry on car when I was trying to refinance I went over there to explain and they are not taking accountability for there actions. While sitting there and hearing other people get cars, its a lot of fraudulent things that go on in there that I wasnt aware of I would like to seek out my loan and give the car back. I would like have nothing to deal with in this company. They need to be shut down for fraudulent activity and looked into. I was nice enough to go in there to seek help and get an arrangement and no help but trying to get me to get another car payment loan. All I want was compensation of taking back that car and grant me another car with swapping out.Initial Complaint

Pressured to Buy Extended Warranty: You were told you couldn't buy the car unless you purchased the extended warranty, even though the paperwork indicates it's optional. This is a form of misrepresentation.Last-Minute Addition: They added the warranty at the last minute, claiming its how they recover money from the ** rebate. This seems like a deceptive sales practice, as any rebates or incentives shouldn't be tied to mandatory ************* Account on File: After purchasing the warranty, you contacted the company and found out that no account was set up in your name. This is concerning and could point to fraud.Lack of Response: You've reached out to the dealership multiple times to resolve this issue and get your money back, but they are not responding, which further complicates the situation.Initial Complaint

On or about 01/20/2024, I drove to Philly Autos, here in ************ **, to ask them if there is any good mechanic within the area that could look into one of my cars which was making a strange noise inside the top cylinder, I was received by one *********************** who introduced himself as being in charge of sales, then I told him why I was in their office, he said you are at the right place, that they help people like me, that they have helped a lot my colleagues in the Department of Corrections. He added that I should trade in my vehicle and that they would give me another good one. I told him that as he could see that I was just coming out of a stroke and therefore wouldnt want to do anything like car - note. But he insisted by saying that my case would not be like the others because I worked for the state and also doing a trade in. He said that if trade in, the negative balance would be little. I insisted that because of my condition that I would not want to do any form of car note. He asked me for the year, make, and model of my vehicle, I told him. He asked if my car was paid off, I reminded him again that I had never done a car note before. He again said I should forget about repairing my car and trade it in instead. That he will give me a good car with a low mileage. He then said they would give me a 2020 ***** CRV, I asked him what would my position be if I traded in all my three vehicles ( 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan, 2008 Dodge Caliber, and 2012 Chevrolet Equinox **** He responded that if that happens I would not have to pay a ***** more, that the three vehicles will definitely cover all bills. I then told him that I would expect some money refunded to me because all the three vehicles must be worth more than one ***** CRV. Then he said that his boss would figure out what the difference would be.Their bank is now threatening to come and take away the ***** because Philly Autos didnt tell their bank **************** that I traded in my three vehiclesInitial Complaint

I purchased a car from them on 1/24/22 with gap insurance and service warranty contracts. On 6/17/23 my car was involved in a hit and run and totaled and I am in the process of a gap claim. Philly auto is not providing me with a dealer invoice that the gap is requesting because they don't have it and instead of creating one, I keep getting transferred. Apparently the only person who deals with these gaps is not answering after she told me she would look in my folder and email it to me. Even the gap department says they tend not to respond to request for documentation. I've been calling nonstop for two weeks looking for "*****". She's either off, at the DMV or on lunch, clearly not doing her job. The gap company will not move forward without this document. This is ridiculous because this should have been included with my paperwork if they know gap requests this type of stuff. Her extension is 107 and she never picks up. People keep asking why I say do not come here to buy a car and this is exactly why. Predatory practices. They refuse to help with documents because they've already gotten paid for the car and could care less. I've been very vocal on my social media about what is going on and I see this isn't the first time this has happened. A customer has been waiting since March and Philly auto isn't returning her call.Business Response

I’ve spoken with ***** ****** only once. I’ve tried to contact Walden 3x times with no luck of getting a hold of her. I never got an email address from ***** which is why she never got an email. Also, if I’m out of the office or at the DMV I’m doing my job. If I’m on lunch when you call sorry that I missed you but I am entitled to a lunch. Sorry that you have been unsuccessful in reaching me. I have not received any voicemails or any messages in reference to your paperwork, besides the one time we spoke. If you need further assistance, please email me at ******@phillyauto.com or ********************.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
You had my call back number when I spoke to you two weeks ago when you went to look for my folder and never called back. Everytime I've called your on lunch so I'm not sure whst hours you're working. Your staff actually hung up on me multiple times to the point where ******* has stated to me in multiple emails they are having trouble reaching you and *********** also. That is why they moved forward without correspondence and why I did not need to call you back after an almost two week waiting period. Have a good one, if you don't want to do your job get somebody else to do it.

I purchased the car in Oct 2021. I did not receive my car for over a month and a half. I had to force this company to hand over the car I paid for. The stickers on the car was close to expiration date, so I had to pay for new stickers. When I returned to this business for them to check the car, my car was returned to me with engine light and other warning lights on. Also this same mechanic did some type of work on my car at this time and my air conditioner stopped working. I tried to call and email, no one returned my message. The salesperson also ran my credit before I even decided to come into the business. I was stuck with using this business, since they illegally ran my credit after saying they would not. I never gave permission to this business. The dealership told me my car would be registered and I paid for this, the car was never registered and I was driving around with illegal plates that did not come up in the PA registration system or *****. I had to pay double to register this car. I left several messages and again the manager never called back.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I do not trust this company with my car. When I bought my car, they held onto my car for a month without an explanation. Also, the manager called me, questioned me like I scammed them. He explained he could not find my information, I explained to the manager, that I left messages for him and I emailed my issues and he never responded. He asked for my receipts for the new tags I bought, I did not send the receipt, since his company's record keeping is unorganized and archaic. The manager also insulted me stating that I was rambling in my email. I was insulted since English is not my first language. The manager's comment came across xenophobic. H e also began to get extremely rude, so I ended the call. This business is scamming people. He also continued to mention what the Attorney General would say to me, this was bullying. I felt very uncomfortable speaking with this man. I would like to be reimbursed for the tags. Please find attached my receipt for new pa tags and my registration. Thanks

Hello,
I received the check that was mailed out, the company did not list my apartment number on the address. They can resend the payment and use the correct address, which was provided on my insurance cards attached to this complaint. I gave this company an entire month.
Thanks

Philly Auto Inc. seems to have questionable intentions in terms of advertisements. In their ads they make the claim that they can do one thing, when their actions seem to do another. They claim they can help anyone regardless of their credit situation (I.e foreclosure, bad credit, no credit or repossession). Today, Tuesday February 21, 2023 around 11:00 am Eastern time, I contacted them to confirm the validity of their advertisements. I asked a representative over the phone, Do you help people who are rebuilding credit or who may have had a repossession 2 years ago or more? the representative automatically said we cannot help you So I asked him to speak with the general manager & the general insisted on me filling out their application without thoroughly confirming the validity of what they advertise. I refused to fill out any of their forms because the nature of their advertisements appear to be false. Also, their advertising efforts comes across as a ploy to just collect peoples private information to sell to third parties without full disclosure to the consumers they already know the banks will deny for financing. Therefore, one may get their hopes up only to have their privacy shared with third parties and leave Philly Auto Incs physical location without receiving any tangible products they claim they can help the consumer obtain.Initial Complaint

On December 7th, 2022, I purchased a 2019 *********** from Philly Auto. When I called the insurance company for a quota, they told me that the car was in an accident previously. The salesman denied that and said it was an error made on behalf of whomever they bought the car from. He assured me that it would no longer show up after a couple of days. The same night I pulled off from the lot with my new car, I noticed it was hesitating to drive after about 20 minutes. The more I drove the worse it got. It was late so I would let the dealership know about the problem the next day as I had to return to sign more papers. I also noticed a dent on the rear passenger side. The next day my friend and I drove up there in my new car. 10 minutes into the drive, the same problem started up again but this time worse. This time it was not accelerating at all and I was driving down a busy road. I was scared to continue driving but I also was fearful of getting into an accident from anyone coming behind me. I finally managed to pull over and called my mom to pick my friend and I up. I also called the salesman and told him everything that was going on. He sent a tow truck later that day for the car. When we got to the dealership we told them that I wanted my money back as they sold me a damaged vehicle and did not mention anything about it beforehand. They made it seem as though the car was perfect. They told us that they would call us the next day, they were going to get to the bottom of the problem. I called them everyday after that and nothing was being done, or at least nothing was told to me. They finally tell us to come up on December 15th. They said that it was a transmission problem and it was fixed. I do not want the car. I want my money back from them. I feel like I was tricked into buying a damaged car and now I have to continue paying for it. Had I known the car had so many problems, the purchase wouldve never been made. I appreciate you all looking into this. Thank you.
