Cigna is a horrible insurance company. The only people they are concerned about are the crooked doctors who are scamming people. You pay every month just so you can get the run around. I tried to do a review with Cigna and they denied my review. They sensored my review because I spoke the truth. It's all one big scam with Cigna and the doctors. I do not recommend them at for anything.Review from Steven S

Absolutely disrespectful and terrible service. Uses eviCore as their servicer and they are even worse. No urgency for approval of medical procedures. Would rather their patients die and save money than approve procedures on a timely basis.Review from gregcan333

Cigna customer service is terrible. I feel sorry for you if you have to use them. Cigna overcharged me above my deductible for pharmaceuticals. I tried to explain to them what happened but they wouldn't/couldn't/can't help me. I had to contact my human resources person at work to call her contact and even then it took weeks to correct. I still haven't received been reimbursed for the overages and its been over two months. Because of this, I was not able to get crucial medicine that I need. I am out of medicine. My health is suffering because Cigna wont provide the service I am ***********. This problem really requires for them to be sued for damages but how can I afford that.Review from Mallorie s

What a terrible excuse for an insurance company. We were forced to switch to Cigna last year and its been a nightmare. They routinely ask for other insurance coverage despite there being no changes to our policy and they are our primary carrier. I have to believe this is all an attempt to deny claims inappropriately under the guise of coordination of benefits. Its also alarming the amount of hand holding Im having to do for them to just process claims.Review from Nora B

They will literally do anything to not pay a claim. I have heard that they actually give claims reps ******* for saving the company money. They do not have a clear appeals process nor do they educate you other than to say, fill out the same form and mail it in again and again and again. They do not recognize your explanation of the problem.Review from Maria B

I had a pretty big dental surgery on September 18th, 2023. I submitted the claims that same month and had to send them again through their secure message system to more times. Every time I called regarding my claims there were no where to be found, there was no communication between each other. I started checking on the claims every other week, then weekly. Every time it would take at least 15 minutes for me to explain the story (which every time got longer). Every time there was nothing accomplished. I actually got in touch with my dentist secretary myself to find out if the xrays and information has been sent. Nothing, probably still sitting on a pile somewhere. Every time they would tell me they will get back to me to update me. I even made appointments, no call back. After 5 months of dealing with this i get a message that my claim has been closed because they never got the information they needed. I am not sure what they do over there but there is no organization, no communication between each other and with the customer. I'm a registered nurse. If I tell a patient I will be back in 10 minutes, I will be back in 10 minutes. How do you think I feel after 5 months? Well pretty angry and frustrated. Unfortunately, i get this insurance through my job but at least I would like everybody to know what they are getting into.Review from Catherine D

Normally, I have a difficult time dealing with Cigna, but yesterday (03/27/2024), I had one of the best customer service experiences with a representative named Sahar. I had been dealing with a frustrating situation with a prior authorization for a prescription, and no one had any idea how to solve the issue. Sahar was able to figure out what the issue was, and it was something no one would have ever thought of! The prescription immediately went through with my manufacturer savings card! If I hadn’t gotten her help, I would have needed a prior authorization denial every single month that I needed my prescription, which would have been extremely tedious and frustrating. Thank you so so much Sahar!!!!Review from Steve R

Terrible customer service. Employees incapable of doing/solving anything. Claims experience is down right torture to get done what you need. Totally incompetent employees. Won’t be in business in 10 years IMOReview from Anjanette W

I have supplemental accident insurance with Cigna. I unfortunately had to file two claims in 2023 and one is still not settled. I have never encountered a lack of customer service as with Cigna. A month after filing claims and receiving ZERO communication, I called just to be sure they had received them. They had, but "with covid we're very short staffed" and could offer me no estimate or expectation of time to process the claims. I continued to receive ZERO communication from them. Any communication was initiated by a call from me. Excuses piled up from staffing to never receiving papers I sent to "we have requested medical records and have not received them". In actuality, medical records had prepared the documents and requested the fee from Cigna 3 times with no response. They were waiting for medical records even though we submitted them via email. Eventually we did receive partial payment, but are still waiting for them to process payments for additional visits. The injury was over 8 months ago and the last visits I sent in were over 2 months ago. I asked them if they had an internal policy to do nothing with a claim until a customer calls. There is no supervisor or manager available to talk to - only an email address that no one ever responds to. Hopefully there's a whistleblower somewhere in that company that comes forward because there practice is at the very least immoral if not fraudulent or otherwise illegal!! Begging my employer to contract with an alternate accident insurance carrier next year!!Review from Bill C

I pay a lot of money for cigna insurance and do not get what I pay for. Cigna refuses to cover a medication that I need for immediate life support on a daily basis. They insist on my getting generic medications. None of the generic so called "equivalents" work. They do not work for me. They insist that I get prior authorization from a Dr. However, Dr.'s will not complete prior authorization forms because they have neither the time nor the resources to complete these forms and they know in advance that they will probably still be rejected anyway. As a result my Dr. prescribes other medications that Cigna will also not cover. Cigna then requires that I get other generic worthless junk which does not work and we end up back where I began with still no medication which I cannot go without for even a day. Cigna's bureaucratic nonsense is quite literally endangering my life. Paying for the medication myself makes having Cigna insurance completely worthless. Cigna insurance is wasting the resources and money of medical facilities that could otherwise be used to treat patients. They costing customers staggering amounts of wasted money, while destroying the health of their customers. However, Cigna is enriching corporations who make worthless snake oil medications that do not work and are also worthless.
