I opened a Checking account with this credit union because they were offering a bonus for signing up. It's been 120 days since opening the account and I was told I do not qualify because I do did not have transaction activity consistent with normal day-to-day spending patterns. Which seems to be a bait and switch policy to get people to sign up and then have full discretion to deny someone the bonus. I recently lost my job and was abroad and did not have any way to use my account in June/July so I should not be penalized for that, which is exactly what the bank is doing by denying the bonus. I would like the bank to honor the sign-up bonus.

Ardent Credit Union has deceitful banking practices. When vendors submit a finalized debit not visa, transaction the bank holds the amount as pended for 2 or three days. Unless visa is used, other banks release funds immediately and reflect correct bank balance. The customer view of balance is misleading. I calculated my pended transactions against my balance and added funds to cover the charges. At 2 AM I received an insufficient fund notification. I checked my balance and it reflected enough to cover the transaction. I called the representative in request to have it reversed and she stated that my actual balance was less than what I can view online. She stated that behind the scene transactions appear different than what customers can view online. Which has always been my suspicion. There system is set up to collect NSF fees any way it can. This happened one month ago. I went to the bank and they can never explain. Usually, I get refunded for the error, Now they are simply keeping my money. I have screen shots and a host of email communication of where money went missing and if I did not have a screen shot I would have lost out on. Many banks are being sued for NSF fraud and Ardent needs to be added to the list.
