On May 8, 2024, I took my 1967 ************ to be inspected and to make it run right, giving them a list of all the new things I already did to the car in the past month and the part number of a carburetor rebuild kit done over 15 years ago. On 5/11/24 I received a call from the garage saying the wrong rebuild kit was delivered and it would take until 5/14 for the correct one to arrive. I said so it should be done on Tues. I was told, no Wed. On 5/14 late in day I called and was told they didnt get to work on my car. I said, so it will be done tomorrow. I was told, I hope so. I didnt hear from them and I finally called 5/20. I now was told they are having trouble finding the right accelerator pump. I know that was a lie because those pumps come with the rebuild kit! I asked if it was inspected yet. I was told yes but we didnt put the sticker on yet. Im not sure how it could be inspected if it isnt running right. I didnt hear from them again until I called around 1:00 on 5/22. I was told yes we got done with it before noon. I picked up the car, put gas in it, drove it around, close to home because it drove like it wanted to stall. I stopped back at the garage and told the mechanic this car is not running right. I could never drive it away from home without it letting me sit. I asked the mechanic to go for a ride in the car to see what it is doing. He did not offer to look at my car. He only said, maybe it needed a new carburetor instead of a rebuild. He could have called me in those 2 weeks to ask me about that but he did not. Instead he charged me for 4 hours of labor and over $200 for parts for a car that doesnt run right. How can it be inspected if its not running right?

Customer brought this 1967 ************ to the shop with it barley running and did not think it would make it there.  He asked if we worked on older vehicles as most shops do not any more.  We said yes but parts are not easy to get anymore for them and we will need time.  He stated that that was fine, we can keep the vehicle as long as needed. Also stated vehicle only gets driven once a year which if you look at the bill he provided a picture of it says old mileage and new mileage and it is six miles driven in one year.  We were provided by the customer a carb kit number originally that was completely wrong and took a couple days to source and almost a week to have delivered, again this thing is a 1967  very hard to get certain parts.  Round two we did our own research and came up with the correct number for the kit.  This kit was delivered and had all of the right gaskets and jets but had the wrong size accelerator pump included.  It had a pump yes but it was wrong.  At this point the customer kept calling almost every day and demanded answers on when his car would be ready and I could not give a exact answer on when as parts are not readily available on the shelf.  Anytime we get a older car in to work on we always tell the customer that we do not have a exact time when it will be done as these problems take so much time to repair.  As for the safety inspection question yes we had the car on the lift and did a inspection while waiting on parts.  We eventually did put a sticker on the vehicle when we had it running.  Once vehicle was done with the carb work we took it for a test ride and it had a slight stumble when you mash the petal to the floor but picked back up.  Vehicle ran much better than when originally brought to shop.  ******** was informed of this and was told that further work would have to be done to get it perfect,  Customer did not want to have the car out of his possession any longer and declined any more work to be done as it ran good enough for the few miles a year he would drive.  We actually had more that 4 hours into the job and were kind enough to give him a break since it was not perfect.  Vehicle will need quite a bit more work done to get this engine to run perfect as it seems to have been neglected for a while of regular maintenance.
