Last spring approximately 4/19/24 I contacted **** ******* company *** for a replacement roof. The work was completed shortly thereafter for a fee of *******. A few months later I noticed the flashing at the top of the lower roof was disengaging. I sent a picture to **** along with a text asking for a repair. He responded by saying he would take a look at it when he got a chance.(The picture I provided was self explanatory). About a month later he texted and said the lower flashing looked secure but the counter flashing maybe could be flattened out. I wasnt pleased with this answer because it appears that new counter flashing would need to be installed since its a mess, but I decided to be patient and wait. Four more months have gone by with no contact. I left a phone message today and didnt get a response. My personal feeling is that he doesnt want to back up this work and do a proper repair(reinstall counter flashing) because he had a third party do the work and if he has to bring them back out it will cost him money. Thats why he suggested a (flattening out) solution. Ive been dealing with this guy for 25 years and now that hes grown he no longer cares unless its a big job. For me, since Im not rich, this is a big job. Thank you

    Business Response

    Date: 03/24/2025

I responded to the concern, and went out to see the concern. When i arrived at the house I saw what the customer was talking about.

we did as we contracted and gave the customer a new shingled roof with proper code inspection approved by township.

the concern of his stucco covered counter flashing is a little bent and has some space on the one side. The flashing is still doing its job. the structure itself seems to have sagged a little on the right side, which is very common in those developments. it is nothing of concern as far as the shingle job and the integrity of the roof job and the waterproofing of his roof. He would need a stucco contractor to come out and provide him with a new flashing and stucco work if he wanted to replace his pre existing stucco flashing that is bent some but only is comprimised cosmetic issue which is not compimising the roof work which we provided. this was all discussed with him over the phone. I have worked many times for ***** ******* over the years, and dealt with his many unneccasary worries, and always worked with him with patience and *****. I will admit this time was enough for me, and was very happy to not have him as a customer any more. I am probably one of the only contractors that stuck it out with him over the years. Honestly I am getting older and beat up from this line of work. I been in this business for 44 years and have many long term customers and built a very good reputation. I have come to the point where its not worth placating very bothersome customers for not very great pay, so I am very willing to not have customers like ***** ******* and any other Karens of the world... life is too short. customers like ***** are rarely happy and always find things that are extra and want you to assume cost and time yourself. I am comfortable saying , yes i did not satisfy ***** on this job, and will not try to satisfy him any more. Thank you for allowing me to provide my side of story.
