We entered into a contract with KBA McHales in August 2023 for a bathroom remodel. The job was scheduled per the contract to begin on Sep 5,2023 and conclude on or about Sep 22,2023. As of March 1, 2024, the job is still not complete, and work that has been done is unacceptable by industry standards. Per the contract, someone with experience using epoxy grout was supposed to do the work. McHales subcontracted the job to a non-McHales company/ employees. The subcontractor caused damage to our home and did not complete the job. He admitted he had no experience with epoxy grout, and his work was shoddy, incomplete, and he didnt finish grouting or other items specified in the contract. He didnt clean off the epoxy grout, so it ruined all the tiles. He also ********* all over the tiles and all grout joints are different colors and not uniform. When we reported this to McHales, they were apathetic and made us wait until the end of Oct 2023 for **** (a McHales employee who also admitted that he has no experiencing using epoxy grout) to finish the incomplete work. Both parties agreed work would begin on or about Oct 20, 2023 and work full days for give days to complete the job. He cancelled and worked sporadically from tie end of October to the first week of Dec,. did not complete work per contract, caused damage, did shoddy work. *******************, owner, finally came to see the bathroom one week ago. He was defensive and hostile. He did not acknowledge that his guys did a poor job. He claimed he couldnt see the haze that is blatantly obvious or the shoddy and missing work. He sent a third employee, *****, to clean the haze and grout. On Monday. After eight hours, it was not successful, and ***** said it was bad, recommended removing all the tile and installing new tile. As of today, Feb 29, 2024 McHales is in breach of the Aug 2023 contract and performed shoddy work. We have not heard from ***************. We have hundreds of photos in support of these accusations. Thanks.

I received a call from ******** on April 9, 2024 to confirm a start date of April 29, 2024 for a subcontractor to begin fixing the issues with the bathroom including but not limited to replacing the tile and epoxy grout. There is outstanding damage to wood outside of the bathroom that has yet to be scheduled. I received an email ******************** on April 10, 2024 stating that they were working on creating a schedule. I would like to wait to close the case until after the work has been completed and the issues have been satisfactorily resolved, with an anticipated date on or about May 13, 2024. Thanks.

    Hi BBB

    RE: COMPLAINT ID ********

I received an email from BBB that the matter is closed and resolved because supposedly I did not reply. However, I did reply to the recent email from BBB. I indicated that no work has begun on the bathroom yet to resolve the issue. I stated that we'd like to keep the complaint open until the work has successfully been completed. Work is scheduled to begin on April 29-May 8. Please let me know if you require proof that I did reply to the BBB email. I'm sure I took a screenshot of it.

    Thanks
