To replace my roof .I paid them 10,000 for the job that was done . My complaint is that it was
not done correctly . The over hang on my roof are sunk in .the old roof did not have this
problem . Because at the time that they were doing the job i rember seeing metal flashing on
the scrap on the groind with the old shingles . Im asuming that this was what was on the over
hang of the roof to keep it from sinking in .. it was not replaced an im not sure if later on the will
leak ? Another thing is if i were to sale my house this is unatractive an my cause a depreciation
of value . I feel as if ive been taken advantage of .When i contacted him an as him to come he
ignored me . Till finally i said if you dont come im calling BBB the he called me back an came
over .. only to tell me yes he could see the problem . Then he brought his crew over with
ladders to get on my roof only to tell me in the end that he would charge me to come back an
fix what they didnt do right the first time . What i want to see done is .. I would like very much to
have this corrected but not by them only because once was enough for ther job performance . I
would be requesting him to pay for the repair for some one eles to do the job . Also 1 of his
crew was person who put the old roof on about 22yrs ago an thats 1 of the reasons why they
got hired by me .the shingles are life time an top quality an i got complaments on that but the
    workman ship wasnt the same.

    Business Response

    Date: 01/27/2023

In response to letter dated January 5, 2023, and second letter dated January 16, 2023, I wish to submit the following information:

I have been doing roofs for over 30 years and have never had a complaint. My sub - contractor (who installed the first roof years ago) and myself met with ******, and inspected the roof area that we installed and where she said there was a problem, in a couple spots. We determined that there is no problem with the roof and it is not leaking. This is a very old house and the framing structure has humps and dips in roof that we cannot do anything about. The only thing we fix when we install a new roof is rotten plywood or one -inch boards. Since completion of the roof I have received many compliments about how good the roof looks. This is indicated in the copy of the text sent to you.

Enclosed is a copy of a contract I use to replace an existing roof. It explains what is included in my work. There is no where stated that I am responsible to remove humps and dips in a roof and in overhangs when replacing a roof. Unless, as stated, the boards are rotten and need replaced. In this case the boards were not rotten.

My sub-contractor and myself tried to explain to her that there is no problem with the shingled roof. The humps up and down on roof area and overhangs could cause shingles to appear to go up and down.
To the best of my knowledge, workmanship, and experience, this roof is completed correctly.
    Sincerely,

    Erdley Building Company

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

My view of the matter is when he came to look at it he seen that it wasnt done correctly an ask me to pay him more money to come an fix what they didnt to right the first time . Alot of money was pad for a job that wasnt done right these dips in my roof were not there withen the old roof was done because they didnt replace what they took off like they should have  .

    Regards,
