On December 13, 2023, I hired Marvel Digital Studio to develop a website. They took a long time to get back to me after I paid in full. When they finally sent me the files, I noticed that every hyperlink on the site redirected back to their servereven up to today! I explained the situation to them numerous times, but they kept blaming the hosting company I used. Although I knew the problem wasnt with the server, I decided to try a different hosting service just in case, but the issue persisted. When I contacted Marvel Digital Studio again, they insisted that nothing was wrong with their code and continued to blame the hosting provider. They then offered to host my site for $290 a year, claiming there would be no issues if I used their hosting service. I have reason to believe this is their strategy to pressure clients into paying more.Initial Complaint

On Oct 26, 2023 I initially paid $1399 to Marvel Digital Studio to host my website for 5 years. After a few days and upon further thought I decided I did not want to go forward with their hosting plan. The plan had not started when I cancelled and no hosting work had been done on their part. I was told the money would be refunded back to my card. After 3 weeks and multiple attempts the money was not refunded back to me. They sent some screenshot showing a refund transaction to a Mastercard but I explained to them I paid with a **** and the Mastercard is not correct. I was given the runaround. I disputed the charge with my credit card company and they gave me a temporary credit/ refund back on my card. However I just learned Marvel Digital Studios lied to my credit card company and stated the $1399 was nonrefundable and so I was billed $1399 again after I was given the initial refund. This is a lie as I have several texts and emails where I was told by 3 different employees from Marvel Digital including a project coordinator named ***********************, another person supposedly in the finance/refund department and another person named ****** who was coordinating creating a website for me who stated I would be refunded my $1399 for the hosting plan I cancelled. My credit card company stated they cannot help any further because the case was closed 12/28/23 and I would have had to respond by then. I just found out about being rebilled $1399 today. This company is disgusting and dishonest and I want my money back and I want people to be aware of their deceitful actions.Business Response

Explanation against the Complaint in Better Business Bureau Introduction: We welcomed ******************************* on October 11th, 2023, seeking website design and development services. During the project, she expressed complete satisfaction with our services, and we have documented feedback from her. On October 26th, 2023, she made a second purchase for Dedicated Hosting. However, after the purchase, she changed her mind and opted for another company. Meanwhile, she had also signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) with us. Subsequently, she requested a refund, and while doing so, she threatened our team with a dispute filing. On November 24th, 2023, she proceeded to file a dispute. Our team decided to contest the case against *******************************. We submitted a comprehensive case study to the merchant, supported by proper evidence, documents, and the signed NDA. Successfully, we won the case against *******************************. Upon winning, she threatened to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. The complaint received attention, prompting us to provide this detailed explanation, along with all the evidence, to demonstrate that, based on the evidence presented and our ongoing professional relationship with *******************************, we firmly assert that her initiated Complaint lacks merit. We sincerely hope this written explanation helps clarify the situation and supports our position that the Complaint in question was invalid. As a legitimate company providing digital services, including website design and mobile applications throughout the ***, we have attached a separate case study along with all relevant documents and email conversations.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:Unfortunately, the individuals in this company are proving themselves to be lying, deceitful and fraudulent. I must now be wasting my time with this. They could have just done the right thing from the onset and refunded the money that is due to me.
Just like the rebuttal they submitted to *****, this rebuttal is full of lies and I do not accept it. I am going to address every one of these lies.
1)Just as in the documents that Marvel Digital submitted to Chase that I am attaching below, they are trying to create this false picture that they were professional, and I was fully satisfied with their service, and I am now just trying to dishonestly get money back from them. That is not the case. I do concede that despite the back and forth and having to request multiple edits, I was very satisfied with the web design they did. In the end it turned out well and in the process of them doing it they were courteous and professional overall. Where they began to show their true colors and became unprofessional and fraudulent is in me asking for this refund. Please see my initial complaint. I obtained documents from ***** (please see attached) that Marvel Digital submitted in support of their refusal to refund my payment. They lied and said the $1399 is for the website design. The truth is I paid $400 for the website as shown on the attached receipt as a different service. The $1399 was for hosting services which I never did with them. Its 2 different serviceshosting vs. Website. They are lying and trying to make it seem as if the $1399 is for the website work in their initial submission to *****. They craftily submitted the emails of me when I had good interaction with the website design, but notice they are not showing the emails of me asking for my refund.
2) Secondly, they claim in their rebuttal here on the BBB site that they submitted a comprehensive case study to the merchant, supported by proper evidence and the signed ***. Successfully we won the case against *******************************. Upon winning she threatened to file the complaint with the BBB...
These statements are also full of lies. They did not win the dispute with ***** because of their proper evidence or any effort on their part. The case was closed by ***** 12/28/23 due to my failure to respond to Marvel Digital Studios response about the fee being nonrefundable. I did not know at the time about their response hence the reason I did not respond.
3)They claimed I threatened their team with a dispute filing with *****. This is a lie. I never had a conversation with anyone threatening the dispute. I just went and filed. It was their own supposed refund manager or whoever I was directed to speak with by the project manager who gave me the runaround and, in the end, told me I had to follow-up with my bank about the refund. I called Chase at Marvels advice to do so. When I called Chase and they said there was no refund pending and Marvel Digital continued to be uncooperative, I had no choice but to file the dispute with *****. The refund manager then called asking why I filed the dispute after, when funny enough on Nov. 22 he stopped taking my calls.
4) Their statement that I threatened to file a complaint with the BBB upon them winning is a lie. I never had a conversation with anyone from that company about filing with the BBB. I quietly filed and when they got the complaint, they took issue with it. They had an issue from the start, with me even disputing the charge with *****.
5)Also, that signed *** they are referring to is problematic as well. I never signed that ***. First, they never voluntarily sent that *** to me. They never sent me a contract for the hosting package. When I requested a contract outlining the services that would be provided under the hosting package, they sent me the *** instead which does not outline what is provided. I also never signed the ***. They have falsified the document and furthermore, the *** does not prove I am not entitled to my refund. have provided texts and emails in my initial complaint where the company said I would be refunded and to this day they have failed to do so. I am providing some of these email correspondences again.
6) They claim in their rebuttal that my initiated complaint lacks merit. Yet, I have provided texts and emails in my initial complaint where the company said I would be refunded and to this day they have failed to do so. I am providing some of these email correspondences again.
6) In the documents submitted to Chase they claim they could not connect the site because Groove wouldnt release the domain and it was holding up the site going live. First, when I bought the hosting package from Marvel Digital and requested the refund, the site was not complete (see attached). Up until 11/14/2023 edits were being made and I requested my refund at least a week before that. Secondly, my domain was purchased through Go Daddy. I connected it initially to a CRM named Groove. Groove told me I could not attach the domain with the website Marvell Digital created through Groove. It would have to be through an outside party like Go Daddy. When I notified Marvel to attach the site to the domain through GoDaddy it was Marvel who was not doing it correctly. I had to contact ******* and they alerted me to what was preventing the site from going live. See the attached texts below stating what was the problem as explained by Go Daddy. When I forwarded the info to the project manager ******, then they did what Go Daddy advised and the site was successfully connected.
7) In this rebuttal it's funny that they now have a screenshot showing a transaction being refunded back to my Chase Card. I was never given the screenshot with that info. As I state in my initial complaint and I will provide the screenshot here again, of money supposedly refunded to Mastercard with a different 4 digit number than mine. I let the company know that and they claimed it was a glitch in the system.
8)The heinous act of this company is them calling me and showing themselves to be racially prejudiced.
Since the credit card company could no longer assist in recouping the refund, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau on 1/29/2024. On the evening of 1/31/2024 around 8pm I got a call from a ***** number where a man stated he was an FBI agent, and his name was *******. They asked if I filed a dispute against a web design company. I stated I filed with the BBB but I am not giving any more information because this person has not properly identified themselves. The person stated I something along the lines of I would know who they are if they show up at my door. The person basically threatened to come to my home over a dispute that I have a right to file. The person began belligerently questioning me and angrily asking why I filed a dispute. I hung up. The person called twice again. I blocked the number. When I listened to my voicemail, ******* left a message saying, call me back you *****. By then my boyfriend came home. When we unblocked the number, the number that for a brief second came up in place of the ***** was the ************************************************************************************************************************** November 2023. When we called the 760 number a message saying you have reached *******, I am not at my desk came up as a voice message.
The next day I spoke with the owner of Marvel Digital Studio, a **********************, and made him aware of that call. I explained about my refund. He denied that the ************************************************************************************************************** to the 760 number in November. I sent the information to him. He also denied knowing a ***** or *******. He questioned why I was disputing the fee because he thought they provided hosting. When I explained I didnt host with them, he stated that the $1399 was deducted from the company account and he believed I received the refund. To give him clarification that I did not receive the refund, I contacted ***** fraud services on a three-way call and the Chase Representative confirmed on that call to ********************** that I was rebilled because of the documentation refuting my dispute and that I did not receive a refund. ********************** stated he would escalate the matter to his legal department, and he will try to help me reach a solution to my satisfaction. Now tell me, should the supposed owner of the company need to get the legal department or escalate anything when he has the authority to do the right thing and just refund the money? I have not had any follow-up from the company until they submitted their rebuttal to BBB on 2/20/2024.
The lying and deceitful behavior is unbelievable. First trying to paint the picture that the $1399 was for the website services they provided and not hosting services and that the money is not refundable. And then contradicting themselves and saying the money was refunded. And then coincidentally getting a threatening call challenging my right to dispute and file with the BBB yet the company claims they have no idea about this call. How ridiculous that they are not only defiant in releasing this money that is rightfully mine, but they have the audacity to be upset that I am fighting for my own money. But I guess because I'm just a n**** in their eyes, I should allow myself to be defrauded and walk away.
I am a medical doctor and a reverend in the ***************** I am not perfect, I make mistakes like anyone else, but I try to live an upright life as a person of character and integrity. It is not my intent to trouble anyone. Yet for this company or whoever is behind this to try to take the money that I work so hard for, subtly threaten me and my household and call me a racial slur is appalling, upsetting and downright disheartening. Even if I didnt have the titles or occupy certain positions in life, no matter who you are, no one deserves to be disrespected and denigrated the way I have been by these people. Furthermore, to be so persistent in their deceit and their refusal to do the right thing is mind-blowing. Fraudulent, deceitful and low-minded people.
But the Bible says in Psalm 37: 1-11:
Do not fret because of those who are evil
or be envious of those who do wrong;
2 for like the grass they will soon wither,
like green plants they will soon die away.
3 Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteous reward shine like the ****,
your vindication like the noonday *************** Be still before the Lord
and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.
8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fretit leads only to evil.
9 For those who are evil will be destroyed,
but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.
10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more;
though you look for them, they will not be found.
11 But the **** will inherit the land
and enjoy peace and prosperity.
I leave this situation in the hands of the Lord. I will still pray for them because God commands us to pray for our enemies or those who do wrong to us. But that does not mean allowing people to get away with their wickedness or dishonest actions. All I can do is allow the Lord to facilitate justice being served. People can hide from and deceive man, but they cannot hide from God. And even when they think they have gotten away, their actions will catch up to them. I trust in God. The Lord will fight for me and vindicate me.
Regards,

I, ******************* and marvel studios agreed on an amount that they would charge for development of an app for me. The agreement was that there will be three stages of development. design, development and deployment. $1800.00 was paid for the design, $1250 for the development. Sense the payment for development marvel studios has done nothing we agreed on going in the app. They put the wrong logo design and the wrong prices for the subscription price. They had writing of an unknown language. Everytime we asked them to make updates and corrections they would ask for the next payment. Its been almost a month long and still no updates or corrections. The more we try to negotiate corrections. We would get disrespected by *************************** the development manager. Making statements that we are dumb and the stupidity client he has ever worked with. So this is why I'm reporting this company.
