August 4th I purchased 2010 ***** *******. October 31st several lights came on: (see attachment) upon contacting the car lot I was told to take it to the garage that they use next door. Because the 400 plus price for repairs was unacceptable I then went back to the owner of the lot and he told me he doesn't know if I caused this damage or not therefore I cannot be reimbursed for any amount

Raul's Auto Sales LLC responds to this consumer complaint.   When purchasing an older used car, Raul's provides consumers the option to purchase a service plan with each vehicle to address issues such as this.   However, sometimes the consumer wishes to take the risk of a used car having mechanical issues that aren't known at the time of sale or won't use their service plan.  In no way can a company selling used cars refund the entire price of a vehicle for a $400 repair.   Unfortunately, $400 repairs are to be expected for a car that is 14 years old.   No consumer can expect that a car of that age can possibly operate forever without something needing to be repaired.   Issues arise at any time with older cars.  If the car had been returned for a repair of an issue that was obvious when the car was sold then the company would likely arrange for some accommodation to repair the vehicle.  However, it was not clear from the customer's explanation that the failure was known or knowable at the time the vehicle was sold.

Raul's inspects and road tests every vehicle it sells.  However, it has no ability to predict what might happen to a vehicle months after it is sold.  The repair shop performing the work has the right to fund its car repair operations.

Unfortunately, a full refund of the vehicle purchase price is not possible.  Raul's would have to expend significant effort to re-sell the vehicle which would not be compensated by providing the requested relief.   The customer is free to use any garage she chooses to repair the vehicle and to utilize any available repair program to which she may subscribe.

The company offered the customer to take the vehicle to the designated shop the company uses for its repairs to review the situation and propose a solution, but the customer never brought the car to the shop for evaluation.   If the customer does not cooperate with attempts to review his complaint, there's nothing the company can do to assist the customer.   The customer is welcome to schedule time with the repair shop to conduct an evaluation within the next five (5) days as he had indicated that he would do so.  However, the longer the customer drives the allegedly defective vehicle, the less any shop can help with repairs that are the customer's responsibility.  Because the customer is not interested in taking care of the problem now, the company can't predict what repairs may be necessary due to the customer's unwillingness to have the repair shop evaluate the vehicle.   If the customer persists in not allowing the vehicle into the shop for review, the company will not be able to do anything as the customer becomes responsible for any damage occurring because the customer did not timely repair the vehicle.  Otherwise, we can't comment on a car which the repair shop has not seen.

The customer must understand that fifteen year old vehicles, like the one he purchased, require immediate attention when repairs become apparent.  This customer must be keenly aware of the situation has he included in his complaint the postings showing that the vehicle had a check engine light on and other dashboard indications that repairs would be necessary.  Further, this customer is taking a below market price because of these issues and must understand that the vehicle would have cost him almost double the amount he paid if the repairs would have been done by the company.  To the limited extent that the company understands the complaints, the repaired cost of the vehicle would approximate the retail price that the vehicle would sell for in the regular market.   The customer insisted to purchase the vehicle without repairs and now complains about these repairs.  The customer waived any inspection, which would have been provided had he asked.  Unless and until the customer brings the car to the repair shop to evaluate, the company can't respond to any such complaints.

I've read the company response I've made clear I've reached out the day of my appointment letting company know that I was unable to attend and I like them to call me with a new time they can act like this vehicle is below market value because of repair it's not the case at all its below because this vehicle is not more than 3.567.39 market  value at good condition.  They sold me vehicle and to address the problem of driving it around well its been sitting for week and half now the ignition switch won't turn on vehicle I will just cut my losses but I will spread the word w people I know to not trust anything coming from this car lot. Being my family owns 3 major towing companies in the *** area I will pass this along to keep others from going through this nonsense and being got by unreliable vehicles.  You can close this case for I no longer care to have them fix anything I got proof that I contacted them about my issue of not showing up but again they got my money and I got a lemon but guarantee that they will not have many customers after this. I'm a respected person in my community and I won't have friends who will be sent there.
