MI windows have been warrantied for 10 years and in those 10 years I have had to request replacement of several windows including a claim I have currently to replace second floor windows, Currently they have asked me to complete a form of which I have no knowledge of window specifications and due to them being a part of MI home builders warrantied windows this information should be a matter of record in their database. I have been told that the warranty will be discontinued as of December of this year meanwhile all of the windows have yet to be replaced with better windows only replaced by the same cheap windows that fall apart within a year or so this time last year I replaced several windows due to broken seals and condensation, This is not in keeping with MI homes who claim to be top in windows and doors. I am pending completion of a warranty form to replace 2 windows on the second floor both in bedrooms. I am all of sudden required to provide the specs of windows that I have no idea of and no labels as they mentioned are carved anywhere on the inside of these windows, These windows are junk and after market none of which are being replaced by the windows shown on their website. Homeowners have been ripped off with these cheap windows and will be responsible for financially replacing all of these windows - MI ripped us off and new customers should be aware. The ********************** are General Aluminum - cheap

We purchased our new home 1 year ago. During the walkthrough it was apparent all 4 windows of one certain type would not open, or if opened it would get stuck and not close. Here we are ***************************** and they still arent fixed. I send emails and receive the same lame response: they are backed up and will get to us when they can. Finally a tech comes out and he cant figure out a fix so he says his supervisor will come out. Over 2 months of me emailing and the supervisor finally comes out, says he will send replacements but only sends the bottoms even though the tops wont work. I contact customer service again to be told I just need the bottoms, it doesnt matter that the tops dont work. Then I get a call from the tech supervisor and when I answer he is immediately yelling at me. Even when I try to diffuse him and the situation he acknowledges his actions, apologizes but then goes right back to yelling at me and telling me they will not repair or replace the windows, new ones must be bought..

I purchased a new *************** home that was built in Dec. 2022 and one panel on the sliding glass door imploded. I contacted MI and they told me that it is not covered under warranty. They were supposed to open a case and review the pictures that I sent to assess if it was an incorrect install or defective door or another reason. Based on my conversation with MI, they made comments eluding to something or someone hitting the door (door is behind a screened in patio), and without being able to properly assess told me my house may have settled causing one half of the door to implode while the other panel did not. I was supposed to receive a confirmation from my case ******** telling me what cause my door to implode. I have no way of knowing if it is defective, if installed incorrectly or if there is any validity to their guess that a house can settle and cause half a sliding glass door to crack. I will have to hire an engineer to come out and take a look at the shattered door and overall house to assess to see if the rest of my MI windows will start imploding. When I question the things being told to me, MI retracts what they told me and tells me that they can say for certain. This is going to cost me a lot of money in order to find out what happened to my door and who is at fault - defective, install or house settling issue.

I had a window installed in my living room in 2017. Its a picture window with a sliding window on each side. The glass on both of the sliding windows has cracked. I reached out to the company that installed them, and they no longer do window installation, but gave me the information for MI Windows, the manufacturer of the Sunrise window I had installed. I was told that my window is not under warranty, so they cant help me. I then replied to the email and asked if I can purchase new sliding windows to replace the cracked ones. Again, I was told **** is not able to offer the replacement glass as we are not handling any chargeable orders for Sunrise at this time. MIWD would recommend reaching out to a local glass company for assistance in obtaining your replacement glass . This is ridiculous, I should be able to order a replacement sliding window when the glass is crackedthis seems to be a defect in the design. Im not even trying to get something for free. If I have no warranty, fine, but Im willing to pay to replace it! After reading through some of the complaints, I now know I need to find my paperwork and find out if I do actually have a warranty or not. This company seems to not want to stand behind their products or their promises. I will be telling anyone who will listen about this company and their sub-par products, and shady business practices.

MI Windows does not cover glass breakage in our standard warranty. We also do not sell windows direct to consumer. Homeowners must go through local dealers to have out of warranty replacement and repair work complete

I purchased vinyl replacement Windows manufactured by Sunrise from Windows Direct of ********** in 2022. MI Windows is the parent ******* of ******** The Sunrise Windows have a Lifetime warranty. In January of this year I noticed a draft coming through my double hung windows during a cold spell. Upon further inspection I noticed the upper sash of my windows were not square and had a 1/8 inch width variance from top to bottom. The bottom sashes are perfect. There are a total of 19 upper sash windows with this defect. A picture of one of the defective windows is attached. Notice how the gap between the edge of the window and window frame widens as you move from the top to the bottom of the window. The gap is enabling air from the outside to seep in my house. MI Windows has ignored my requests to replace the windows and is pushing me to rectify the matter with the installer. I have been in contact with the installer and they have not been of any assistance. From my perspective this is not an installation issue but rather a manufacturing issue. The installer can only work with what is provided by the manufacturer which in my case is windows that are not square. I offered to drop the matter if MI Windows can provide me a manufacturing specification which shows the width of their windows can vary by 1/8 of an inch. They have not provided me this information which suggests they know they have a quality problem and dont want to own up to it.

I am rejecting this response because: the installer did come to my home and make adjustments but it didnt help. You cant make a window thats not square to function like one that is. MI Windows made a product of poor quality but doesnt want to take ownership of the problem.

Most recent correspondence from our service team -

we are going to get a service technician out to the home to inspect for any manufacturing concerns with the window. This is a courtesy and outside the terms of the Sunrise warranty as the Sunrise warranty does not include inspections or labor. A technician will contact the homeowner directly to schedule the appointment in the next couple of weeks.

Our slider shattered spontaneously. Our slider shattered **************** one was injured, but this is extremely dangerous. I am writing with extreme urgency & deep disappointment in the way my requests have been handled. I have been a proud homeowner with Milgard windows, which come with a lifetime warranty, for over 20 years. I am baffled at the disregard & poor treatment I've experienced when seeking assistance on multiple windows in my house that clearly need servicing. Despite contacting customer service multiple times about broken seals, mold trapped between window panes, and a faulty patio door, my issues remain unaddressed. I was asked to submit details about the multiple windows via an online form, which I did. I then received an email dated March 24, 2023, asking for a series of photos to be uploaded. I complied, providing all requested images to the best of my ability. This effort was in itself an unreasonable burden, essentially performing the work that a service tech could have done. But what I found more frustrating was that after all this, my claim was denied on the grounds of not being covered. I must make it clear that my issue does not lie with cleaning the windows, but with the more serious issues of mold BETWEEN the panes, broken seals, and a defective patio door. Despite my repeated attempts to explain this, your team has sent me nothing more than cleaning instructions. What I have been requesting for months, is for a technician to be dispatched to evaluate these problems in person. After numerous emails dated March 24, 28, April 5, 11, 17, 20, May 4, 9, 16, June 16, 22, and July 15, 20, 2023, and attempts to reach out via social media, not one rep has managed to schedule a tech visit. It is not only disappointing but disconcerting that Milgard would abandon its commitment to its warranty & its customers. My trust & faith in your products & services have been severely shaken by these events. It's time that Milgard honors the lifetime warranty agreement and provides the level of service that I, as an original owner, am entitled to.

       Complaint: 20422029

I am rejecting this response because: while they may have sent a patio door handle piece 7 month after a complaint (that we had to fix ourselves), I still have not had a technician come out to inspect the actual windows we had and still have issues with. Its now been 1.5 years later and they have not been taken care of. So no, this has not been resolved and still remains their responsibility to uphold their lifetime guarantee agreement. I would like to have a technician come out and inspect the windows that we have issues with. Until then, it will not be resolved on my end.
