On Oct.31st of 2022, my basement flooded. There happened to be a company next door, cleaning up my new neighbor's flooded basement. Naturally, these men came over, told me re their services and referred me to a public adjuster with whom they frequently work. Being as vulnerable as one who just lost a family member, feeling lost, unsure of where to turn next or what to do, I met with Mr. S----- from A+Adjusters. He explained that he would increase my financial settlement from my insurance company and take 20% of that money. He stated that the adjusters from the insurance company knew him and they work well together. I did sign a contract. I called Mr. S--- to get an update on my case. He slowly responded by stating after he got a check, I would get a check. Again, a few wks. passed with no communication from either Mr.S--- or his company.A+Plus Adjusters. I called and emailed the office and voiced my concerns re not knowing what was happening.I was informed the case was closed, my settlement check was being mailed that day and the company had no documentation of either phone calls, texts.emails with my insurance. company. It was explained to me that the public adjuster and the adjuster from the insurance company get together and negotiate. Mr. S--- "fee" came to just under &1800.00. Is this the industry norm? How do I know that Mr. S-- did his job? Perhaps the 2 adjusters "negotiated" over a beer? In representing me. I expected to see the results of his work. How do I determine if he did his job and how well or poorly he did it? The insurance company has been more forthright and open to communicating with and sharing their texts with me.With my now reduced insurance check, I will be very lucky in findinga company to replace my basement walls, floors, carpet, etc. . If Mr. S--'s actions, lack of communication and inability to display the results of his interventions are considered legal, ethical, I remain with some serious questions re this business. I will never recommend A+Plus Adjusters to anyone.
