I have collections from a time that I had to evacuate my apartment because it was not suitable for living. There were cockroaches, the heat was always breaking, it took maintenance days to respond to calls, their were always issues with the neighbors and noise levels that weren't ever addressed. I tried to discuss this with management, but they were of no help. There is over $7,000 in collections over this. It is interfering with my credit and finding a suitable place to live. Please advise how we can fix that. Thank you!!

I live at *************** Apartments which is managed by DePaul Management. I have mold and mildew growing under the tub which smells so bad. I have health issues and should not and cannot be breathing this in. I reported this to leasing and they put deodorizer on it which is only a quick fix because the smell is back. I am frustrated they raised my rent and will not fix this issue correctly. I asked them to not raise my rent because of this and they declined. These buildings are old and I can only imagine how many other buildings have them too. I try to go to DePaul management about this but all emails are routed to the leasing office here. I was told by a former employee that they have too many maintenance requests and at the end of the month whatever they didn’t get to, they delete and mark as taken care of even though it was not. What can I do to get this addressed?

Hello, I am filing a complaint against DePaul management which is the company of my apartment complex ***** ********* apartments. I have been requesting maintenance on my apartment for months now and no one has contacted me, or even responded to my emails. There is no one ever in the office, and they do not answer phone calls. My toilet isnt filling up with water, or sink in my bathroom fills up with water/water does not drain. If I run the shower my sink fills up with whatever gunk is down there, The shower constantly flows water to where it is now eroded with water damage. The water is constantly cold and I have to contact emergency maintenance to turn on hot water which takes about an hour. I pay good money to live here and I get nothing in return. I have been dealing with these issues for months now because no one has come out or gotten back to me as to when a maintenance man will be coming.I had to call emergency maintenance to get someone out here on a Saturday because no one was helping me solve this issue. **** from Emergency told me that its a plumbing issue and must be fixed during the week and I have gotten nothing in return since. This complex needs new management, and something has to be done about this. My supporting documents show multiple emails sent to Maintence to get this resolved since 9/12/22 and I still havent received anythinghelp.

I was interested in Leasing and apartment. I paid $2387.09 in money orders made out to the property management company on 6/20/22. I was told I could not see my unit until 5 days before I moved in but assured that if I was not happy with it I would have my money returned When I saw the unit on 7/27/22 there were a number of maintenance issues that I was promised would be addressed before I moved in 8/1/22. I sent the management company screen shots of the issues needing to be addressed and was told that the apartment was rented as is. I called the office after receiving that email and was told that the issues were addressed. I then come in on 8/1/22 to tour the unit before picking up my keys and the maintenance manager began calling around telling various workers to come fix the issues that I reported on 7/27/22. Nothing had been addressed. After deciding not to move forward with Leasing the apartment, the property manager gave me back the money orders I had paid back in June. The money orders were made out to the property management company so I was unable to cash them , deposit them or obtain a refund from the establishment where they were purchased. On 8/2/22 I returned to the property management office and the property manager told me she would get the money orders to the main office and asked me to send a confirmation email of where that Cashiers check could be mailed too. An hour after having that exchange, the property manager replied back to my confirmation email stating I have to go through Western Union to get a refund which takes 30+days. I spoke to a Leasing Agent at another property under the same management umbrella and was advised that in cases like this the money orders that are made out to the property Management company are deposited at the Headquarters/main office and a Cashiers check is issued. I am stuck with no place to live and no money. The regional manager refused to return my calls.

I have lived at ******* **** Apartments, owned and operated by DePaul Management, since 10/2017. In that time, I have had numerous repair issues carry over for weeks to months. For example, it took two months in the summer of 2018 to get window screens, it took over a month and a half to a new oven after my oven died, a leak, and a subsequent hole that went unattended for well over a month, and the like. This time, the closet in my bedroom fell apart. This is not a difficult repair, however, I am unable to do this repair on my own. The closet shelf fell apart on/around Nov. 5. I was promised that maintenance would be out on 11/15 (no-call, no-show). After several calls, I was promised that maintenance would be out on 12/17 (no-call, no-show). I called corporate on 12/21 and on 12/22 I received a call from maintenance promising that he would be out today, 12/23. Again, maintenance was a no-call/no-show. On the phone with maintenance on 12/22, I was told that corporate simply forwards the calls back to the office and that corporate does not deal with tenants. In addition to the closet, I am waiting for two replacement floor tiles for the kitchen since their exterminator used open glue traps that became stuck to the tile and could not be removed, thus needing to remove the tiles. DePaul Management will claim that they are understaffed - that might be true, but they have been stating that since I moved in. This is not a happenstance of the pandemic, this is a deliberate choice they are making at the expense of their property.

Over the last two months we have had multiple instances of NO hot water, NO heat and a pest problem. Our requests for maintenance have either not been answered, or done poorly. Over a span of two months, we could never tell if we would be able to have a warm shower and heat. Over a four day period, the hot water in our buildings was shut off to perform maintenance on it... four days of freezing water showers is absurd! Heat has not been functioning properly for over a month, and over the last three days, we have had NO HEAT at all in below 40 degree Fahrenheit at night. The maintenance told us that there is an issue and it cannot be resolved at this time. We are being expected to live in poor conditions, with NO HEAT in winter, which is unacceptable. The standard response is that we are doing what we can and sorry about this but this is simply not acceptable under any terms! How can we be expected to live in these conditions?

In March of 2021, the carpet in our apartment started to get wet at the walkway. After sucking up all of the water, every time that it rained the spot would fill up with water and become like a wet sponge. We were dealing with this issue for months and nothing was being done to fix the problem. Our lease was up June 1st and I was told by the office manager that if we were to find somewhere else to live, that we would not be charged for an insufficient notice or breaking the lease due to the issues that we were having. After vacating we received a letter from DePaul charging us for an insufficient notice and for June rent. We would not have moved out if we were not assured that we would not be charged for it.

I received $507.50 of my $850.00 security deposit. I was told by the building manager that there were late fees applied but I have not been late with the rent.I was told that the rent was raised to $890.00 last year but I was not notified and paid $880.00 every month on time. And rather than someone from Depaul management office notify me that there is some kind of misunderstanding because every month for a YEAR, I was sending payments for $880.00 on time, they simply cashed the checks and tacked on late fees at the end. I am requesting the return of the $342.50 that was unfairly kept by Depaul management offices. I have spent the last 3 months attempting to get corporate to communicate back to me to no avail. I think that it is extremely irresponsible and dishonet to allow late fees without any sort of communication, especially during the last year.
