I engaged Rich R*** (owner of Eagle Property Management) to level the floors on the second floor of a house that I recently bought in Lawrenceville. The work began on September 12th and was due to finish by September 22nd. The contractor has demonstrated a complete lack of professionalism. He has pushed the deadline back multiple times without warning, done sloppy work, not shown up to work without warning and more.

Yesterday, 60 days after the start date, I requested a refund from the contract for the following reasons:

    1. Failure to to meet every deadline that he set (outlined in emails I have attached)

    2. Lack of transparency on availability - there has not been a single day Rich showed up to work on time. I have received a variety of excuses from traffic, being sick etc... truth is he has other priorities and is trying to hustle and doing everything and impacting his ability to deliver on the project he committed to work on at my house

    3. Damage to my fireplace. He has been unable to engage someone to fix this and while initially took responsibility has since brushed it off

    4. Sloppy / low quality work - I have numerous pictures. His finishings are like a child's art project. Floors are bouncy, doors were cut unevenly and not sanded, goopy caulking on the baseboards, holes in the floor

The state he left my house is worse than before he started and I'm concerned he's devalued it. I have sought out other contractors, but no one wants to finish someone's poor work. They want to start from the beginning. This will be costly.

I paid $7075. He wants me to pay him for the $4000 worth of supplies and will refund me only if I raise a chargeback on my credit card. More hoops for me. I don't believe I should pay for supplies that will eventually be ripped out due to be installed incorrectly or sloppily. He also damaged my doors so I will need to have new doors installed where he cut them too short or cut them crookedly.

I'd like a full refund to my bank account.
