    Pattern of Complaint:

    On April 25, 2022 The BBB contacted County Hauling Corp. regarding a pattern of complaint.   BBB files indicate this business has a pattern of complaints concerning consumers alleging issues with Service, Billing and Collection, and Customer Service.  Specifically, Customers claim that their trash and recycling is not being picked up as scheduled, and that they have had to make multiple calls to the business to get service. Consumers state that their customer service experience is unsatisfactory, and that they have been hung up on by customer service representatives.  They also claim that their emails and phone messages are not returned. Customers state they are being billed for service they did not receive.  They also state that they paid their bills, but then are receiving notices that their payment was not received.  Customers claim they are being charged late fees even though they are paying their bills on time.  

    On April 25, 2022 the business responded:  

    "County Hauling is dedicated to excellent service and since we began increasing our residential accounts in 2019; have put many procedures and staff in place to assist with the growth.  We have implement a route supervisor position which enables the manager to check routes,  report any issues, and reach out to residents if there is a complaint. We have added to our customer service staff to ensure calls are getting answered in a timely fashion and complaints are logged and sent to the route supervisor through our dispatch system. Recently, we also implemented the use of our Trux system where managers have direct access to complaints.  For billing issues, we have a team that handles complaints and confirms occupancy when claims are made of vacancy. We are dedicated to giving our customers the best possible
    service. In addition, we are still far below the national average for missed picks, well below 1%."

      This morning's recycling service yielded recycling products (cardboard, papers) all over my driveway, at the base of my mailbox, on the street in front of my property, and down the road, scattered along the edge of ALL of my neighbor's property. I request FULL cleanup services within EACH county along EACH road affected at the expense of County Hauling for failing to contain recycling and trash properly and for causing significant pollution of said garbage spills in violation of PA Cleanways.

      There were severe storms last night with strong winds that could have contributed to the material being blown.  We will investigate through our truck cameras to confirm the conditions upon arrival.  We unfortunately would not be responsible for storm or wind clean up but if we investigate and find it to be us we will have a crew come out to rectify.

      We have been requesting a recycling bin from County Hauling since we moved in last June. It has been almost a year and we still have no recycling bin and nobody has a reason why. We pay for garbage AND recycling, yet recycling is not a service we can utilize without a recycling bin. We continue to be told they will get us one when they have it. At this point a new one needs to be ordered and delivered, Or it needs be taken off of our bill. I was told a supervisor will call me back but nobody calls or emails back. There is nobody to speak to about billing and nobody can help me do anything but put in a ticket. I have put in at least 10 tickets and nothing has been resolved.

      I received a bill last week showing I missed a payment on the other half of the bill. I thought I had paid it. They are charging a $10 late fee. I am not paying a $10 late fee. I paid the back bill today. I spoke with Diane and she stated she could not remove the late fee b/c it is "contracted in". I asked for a supervisor. She stated she did not have one but have one call me but they could not remove it. The garbage company rose the bill for our city double the price. I can barely afford to pay the bill now. I cannot afford to pay a $10 late fee.

      Trash was supposed to be picked up on Tuesday and was not. Saw a truck across the street Wednesday morning asked if they would be picking it up and they said no because "it was not their route" ACROSS THE STREET. Called Wednesday and Thursday to ask for it to be picked up. Clearly they only came when this complaint was filed. Further, this happens at least once a month. Finally, the trash did not become "unbagged" until Wednesday after it had been sitting out for over 24 hours not picked up.

      Manor Boro in Penn Township PA uses County Hauling Corporation for the residential communities garbage disposal company. The contract was up for renewal between those parties and they agreed to an egregious rate hike over 120% for a new three year deal. Residents went from paying 39.00 to now 100.00 per month. There is no rational reason for this type of increase and it is felt this is highly unfair and not in line with CPI for standard increase's expected- its price gauging. Residents are left being unable to pay for this increase and we are seeking help to address this.

      I PAY for the service of garbage removal and my garbage was not picked up. Contacted them via phone and was told to leave trash can and would be picked up. Garbage is still not picked up and has been two days. What am I to do with my garbage until next pickup?

      I was switched over to county hauling around March of last year . I was financially in a hardship due to cost of things due to high price of goods. I did not pay the 164 that I owed they sent me a letter that they will not continue to puck up my trash. For approximately 6 months I have been taking my trash to my workplace with permission from the owner. But county hauling has continued billing me. Now the bill is 330 dollars approximately I haven't put one piece of trash out and they still are billing me I never signed a contract with them. Please help. I will pay 160 for the 2 or 3 collections they have made.

      Trash services for all residential properties are a contract requirement.  We are more than happy to work out a payment arrangements, but per the contract you are required to pay for services.

      I called them and was told that I need to all for trash to be collected.  Since I am forced to pay this I want them to collect my trash.

      I can't afford 300 plus dollars to have them start again . The best I can do is pay 160 on fri the 2nd to have trash collection reinstated.

      And make make payment arrangements for rest..

      I called and the told me i had to pay full amount..

      i need a point of contact to assist me.

       Garbage picked up last week by pick up truck thanks to BBB. Garbage was put out last night for garbage today, our assigned garbage day. Company has yet to pick up. This is 5 weeks of missed pick up on garbage day. We would like garbage picked up on our assigned garbage day weekly and our bill to reflect the weeks missed.

      I will start from the beginning. Our township switched to this company and we've had NOTHING but problems. It started out with not taking all of our garbage which was never over the allowed and it was never brought to our attention the limit from the beginning. Any time you call the company you have to call numerous times in order to talk to anyone. They claim someone is coming out and nobody comes unless you call the township. The most recent incident was last week they didn't pick up ANY garbage on our road. So my husband called to assure that this week they will pick up the EXTRA garbage they left last week. Finally they come pick it up and leave an entire bag FOR NO REASON. I asked them 6 months ago for a bill in the mail and they don't send anything unless you're late and don't worry they tack on the fee EVEN THOUGH I ASKED FOR A PAPER BILL IN THE MAIL. This company has been nothing but an issue from the beginning and we would like a different garbage company on our road. That is coming from us and our neighbors who have had the same problems.

      The roads were not serviced last week and the trucks were unable to get to the homes and safely pick up.  We contacted the township and informed them and gave them time to clear the roads which they were not able to.  We serviced the area yesterday and I can report your missed pick up to be reviewed by the route manager.  I will also look into the late fee on your account.

      County Hauling is the trash collecting company we are forced to use by the Borough of Canonsburg. County Hauling missed a pickup at my house almost two weeks ago. I have contacted them multiple times, and they just keep saying they will send someone out to take care of it. Not only has this not happened, but there is also no way to escalate the problem. Apparently, all calls go to a generic call center, where the only step those call center reps can take is just to make another note requesting a pickup. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and there are no supervisors there, only call center reps, so there is no way to escalate the problem. And yet, they will not credit my account. I am paying for the service of timely pickups, and am not receiving the service that was paid for. Isn't paying for a service that isn't received a variation of theft or fraud?

      In reference to complaint ID ********* your comment was that a route supervisor would reach out to me today. And yet, here we are, 6:30pm, and zero contact from anyone. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since the original pickup was missed. I have had zero action taken on this. I am paying for a service that is not provided, despite multiple attempts on my part (and abolutely none by the business) to remedy the situation. Please give me a detailed explanation as to how paying for a service that is not provided isn't theft or fraud?

      The route supervisor did contact this resident and did pick up her recycling.  He also addressed the matter that she was putting her items out on the incorrect week, however she still maintained it was the correct week.  We also emailed her a copy of the collection calendar.

      I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********* and you are definitely confusing me with someone else. While I did speak with a route supervisor, the recycling schedule was never discussed, I wasn't told I was putting it out on the wrong week, and therefore I absolutely never insisted that I was. The conversation I had with the route supervisor in no way mentioned a schedule or calendar. Please check the email address that the calendar was supposedly mailed to, as I am very curious where it was supposedly sent. Especially since the calendar was never part of my complaint, and I am quite capable of finding the calendar on the business website, and have actually done so multiple times to ensure I have the correct week. 

      Additionally, my issue aside from a missed pickup was that multiple attempts to resolve the situation through the customer service number went absolutely nowhere, and it wasn't until I filed this complaint, two weeks later, that someone actually called me. So, it seems that a BBB complaint is the only way to get this company to actually address an issue.
