In September of 2023, I requested quote from LF Contracting for the replacement of our indoor staircase. *************************** came out to measure and talk to us about the job. We were interested in using their company so ************************* came out to talk to my husband and me in more detail about the project. About a week later we were given a quote and we decided to proceed with using LF Contracting , *************************, to do the job. On October 10th we gave him a check for $6,000 dollars and it was cashed on the same day. This money was for materials to be used for the job. In the week following October 10th, I was directed by ******************* to pick out railings and stain color and other materials. I did this quickly and I was told that everything was ordered. At this time I was told it would be 6 to 8 weeks timeframe for the staircase to be delivered. He would tear down the existing staircase and install the new one on the same day and then it would take several days to complete the project. Around Thanksgiving, the I spoke with ****************** and was told the staircase was not in but all the railing and ******** had arrived. I checked in a couple of times within the few weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas and finally was told right before Christmas that the staircase had arrived. We were going out of town and agreed that he would arrive to start installation on January 2nd, ****. On January 2nd I was told that some kind of bracket that he needed for installation was ordered incorrectly and would have to be reordered. The part would arrive on January 5th at 8 am and he would pick up everything and be at my house that morning to start the job. On January 5th, I was told that the part was again ordered incorrectly and again would have to be reordered. I mentioned to ******************** that I felt that I was never going to get my new staircase. He said I absolutely would. On January 9th, I was told by ****************** that he was sending one of his guys to pick up the part in ********* ** because the truck came without the part on it. The part would be in his possession by noon that day and he would come to start the project. By 2 pm that day ************************* called to tell me they were not coming because of the rain and would be there at 9 amJanuary 10th. He did not arrive by 9:30. I sent a text to ask how far away he was. He said he was caught in traffic. About 1/5 hours later I sent another text. He said he was still in traffice and he would be at my house at noon. At 12:30 my husband called him and he said he was getting gas and would arrive in 15 minutes. At 1;25 I tried to call ****************** and he did not answer. He sent a text to my husband saying that he was no longer coming to do the job, that is was causing him too much stress. He said it was nothing but a headache. He specifically mentioned that he would return out deposit and put it in our mailbox that evening of the 10h. My husband requested that he meet him to pick up the check and he said he had already put a certified check in the mail. My husband then asked for a picture of the stub of the certified check and he did not respond. On January 11th, I sent an email to ****************** stating that he confirm that he was no longer going to do the job, that no materials or services had been provided, and that he would return the full amount of $6,000 we gave him as the depost. He responded yes to all of this. I then asked again for proof of the certified check that he said he mailed to us. He did not respond to this. I called his sister ***************************, who was our initial contact. She said she would talk with her brother. I have not heard back from her either and we have not received our money . We have all email and text communication saved. We also have proof that check was cashed and it states on the check that it was for a deposit.

Hired LF Contracting to install a new water heater and replace some damaged drywall. Paid deposit on 2/28/23 of $1900 with the work scheduled for 3/9/23. My job was pushed twice with notification the morning of the scheduled job (30mins prior to the scheduled arrival time). The contractors did not show for the next 3 scheduled appointments and provided no communication they were not coming. After they did not show for a total of 5 times, I requested my deposit back as they were not able to fit me into their schedule. With a week of back and forth emails, LF Contracting returned only $1800. I have asked several times for the remaining $100 and received responses from LF Contracting, but I have not received the remaining amount of the deposit.
