When we were taken on a tour of the venue at Tumwater Ballroom, the manager ************************* told us that the deposit would be available for full refund up to 1 week before the event. On 2/22/22 I gave a deposit of $500 to the Tumwater Ballroom for a wedding venue for 10/13/23. I received a confirmation of my payment via email. I also received a contract that we never signed via email. There is no signed contract. ****** stated that my payment of the deposit was used as us signing the contract. In early November 2022 I called to cancel the venue. I asked about the deposit and ****** now states the refund is not refundable. I stated that he previously told us it was refundable. ****** then told me to ask my parents to refund me instead of himself. ****** stated that I would receive an email confirming cancellation of venue. Several days later I never received an email. I reread the contract and it states that we would receive $200 back from cancelation when he stated none was refundable in first call. I called ******* back and stated I never received an email and that I should be receiving my deposit back. ******* then tells me he's been busy and hasn't gotten to it yet. Four more days later I still haven't received an email. I called ******* for the fourth time when he finally said he would start the process of the paperwork. I asked when I would receive my deposit back and he claims "it could be days or it could be 8 weeks. We'll get to it when we get to it." I then asked if because we never signed the contract if that means we could receive our full refund since we never agreed to the contract. ******* then said "then I will just keep all of your money." And laughed. He then stated that he took out deposit as a version of us signing this contract we we never signed. A day later, my fiance called Tumwater and claimed we never signed a contract so we should receive our deposit back and ******* then claimed "then I will just keep all the money then".
