On 11/08/2024 I brought my car into Joe's Garage to have the alternator and serpentine belt replaced. I supplied my own parts which were bought the same day brand new from auto zone. And on 11/21/2024 I brought my car in to have the battery charged and starter replaced again with brand new parts I supplied from auto zone. My car was still having issues starting so I called joes garage again to ask what the issue may be. They informed me that because the alternator and starter were just replaced it was likely a bad battery. I took my car to interstate battery to have the battery tested. Upon testing the technician informed me that the bolts on the battery cables had not been tightened causing the cables to shift. He said this could not be caused by regular wear or driving the car and was due to the last person who installed the battery not tightening them down correctly. He tightened them for me and tested the battery which read "like it's brand new". My car was still making unusual noises when starting but would drive fine so I assumed it must be due to the cold weather. Until 02/17/2025 when while driving down the road I heard a lot repetitive noise and I suddenly lost the ability to turn my wheel and the battery light turned on the dashboard. I pulled off the road and called a tow truck. The serpentine belt had come off and was shred only on one side. Because this belt was brand new and installed in November the tow truck driver informed me this was very unusual and it was likely due to incorrect installation. Because of these two issues I did not trust joes garage to do quality work on my vehicle and I decided to have my car towed to Action Automotive. After working on my vehicle they informed me that the bolts on my alternator were laying in the belly pan of the shield like due to not tightening them and the serpentine belt was misaligned and installed improperly. I then paid $202.05 to fix the belt and alternator bolts. I paid joes $631.08 for negligent work.
