Originally dropped off vehicle April 1st 2025, was told it would take 3 weeks to complete an engine rebuild. After 5 1/2 months of excuses and delays he finished it. Within three days of having my vehicle back it started to leak coolant, the owner of the shop was aware of it when he completed the first oil change at 300 miles. He told me to keep an eye on it as it wasn't leaking very much and he would repair it at the next oil change in a few days at 1000 miles. At 800 miles while on my way to work it overheated after losing most of the coolant. The shop owner is claiming that the part that failed isn't under warranty and I would have to pay for another rebuild. He spent the last 2 months just to replace the radiator, exhaust manifold, freeze plugs and water pump gasket only to realize that there was internal damage after convincing me that this was the issue. I have spent over $4,000 plus paying insurance on a vehicle I haven't been able to drive for almost 8 months that still doesn't run. I did start saving our text message conversation once I saw a pattern in delayed response and excuses that I can provide if needed. Paid $270 to have the vehicle towed to my house November 3rd 2025 and had to sell the vehicle yesterday as it was going to be my daily driver and I can't afford more credit card debt to get it back on the road. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have a feeling I'm not the first ****** he has done this to.

To start of my apologies again for how long the vehicle was in the shop the 3 weeks was provided ot was just a simple rebuild one done BEFORE they have a catastrophic failure like you had. (3 of 4 spun main bearings) We stated hopefully no other damage occurred. Unfortunately I had a medical injury you were notified out that ultimately required surgery on the 23rd. After the surgery we finished the install on the 30th. The 1st one, the crank unfortunately was damaged and was unusable. We paid for a new one ourselves and extended a $500 discount. On June 10 with 1 arm after surgery our progress was slow we reached out apologies anf staring we are working as fast as possible and currently getting over a $1000 free parts and labor. Still no request for refund. On July 2nd we had finished the rebuild and on the test drive we could hear something was off in the bottom end. We found cracks on the main bearing housing. Unfortunately we had to rebuild this a 2nd time but with a block we supplied. For part it was a 4 week turn around l. August 1st clearance issue with the new clutch and flywheel (new and free of charge for the extreme wait) had clearance issues so we got replacements. The the valve stem keepers, something else not included in the rebuild but re replaced for free anyway since it happened here. On the 14th we notified you of a $0 bill no charge as the wait was too long. You deposit was the only charge. You couldn't pick it up until the 19th. August 25th a Friday you came in got a request 300 mile oil change. We noticed what we thought was some fluid running down the block but it had no drips anywhere. We asked if you noticed any leaks and you said no. Just had added a small amount of coolant. I said I would like to keep it to be sure its not leaking something. But if you needed to take to to please keep a close eye on it and not go far. After another 500+ miles on a long trip you stated you only noticed it over heated because it was smoking behind you. The temp was pegged and instead of stopping there and utilizing our free tow you tried to just add water and keep going. It didn't work then you called. We had it towed for free to the shop and found the freeze plug failed. Something we had not replaced so there wasnt the ability to charge the insurance for the warranty labor. Once the failed parts were replaced and it was fired back up we could see how bad the damage was. Thr rings were burnt and it needed at least those if not a lower end rebuild again. We offered free parts but with the damage done by a freeze plug we had not worked on we only asked for the labor to be paid for. You declined the free parts and thank us for trying to make it right. Not asking for a refund. Had you asked then for one we could have easily worked with you. We double checked and no request was made between pick up and this message being sent. You said it's sold which makes it next to impossible to provide a refund since I have nothing to return. The very least we could have refunded all the parts and some labor costs but with nothing here Im not sure how to provide a refund. Feel free to reach out with any further request.

I am rejecting this response because:

This is why I kept our entire text conversation, flat out lying and making excuses from the start.  I told you I added water to measure how much coolant it lost, didn't drive it any further.  It sat at my autistic client's house for 8 days when I was told it would be towed 6 days prior.  Also was told it would be rebuilt in 3 days but it took 2 months to simply do water pump gasket, exhaust manifold, radiator and freeze plugs.  I also told you when I came to pick it up that I was going to have to sell it because I now have $5,000 in credit card debt for a vehicle that ran for 1 week after waiting 6 months. I need a daily driver now which is why I was forced to sell my dream truck. I wasn't about to give you another dime especially after waiting another 2 months for you to charge me another $850 before "realizing" the piston rings are fried.  I'm in contact with the person that I sold it to, he's going to be tearing down the engine in a few weeks.  I've asked him to send me pictures of the damage and also to verify which parts were actually replaced.  This is absurd, no one deserves this kind of experience. I have included several screenshots of lack of communication, excuses and what was actually said.  I was very patient but this is ridiculous.

    Sincerely,
