In the first week of March, I contacted B&D Automotive to see if they could install struts for my 2003 Honda Civic Sedan if I were to purchase them. I spoke with Judy, who told me it wouldn't be a problem. On March 8th, 2022, around 7 pm, I arrived at B&D to leave the Honda Civic I spoke with an employee about the prior conversation with Judy regarding the work to be done on the front set strut assembly that was in the trunk of the car. He took possession of the car keys and I left the car. Mike called the next day and began explaining the car had some issues, but it was completed and ready for pick-up. Mike said "he had some issues with the struts and didn't know how long the right passenger was going to last. He explained he had temporarily rigged it to be able to be installed. He stated the "right taper for the tie rod not machined correctly about 3/16" off and not enough room for the cotter pin. I asked what he been DONE to "fasten" it, he said he "applied Goop" and installed both sides. On March 9th I arrived at B&D to retrieve the car. Mike emphasized the struts being misaligned and it being a safety issue. He explained the only way to rectify the problem would be for them to be replaced with new struts. Mike said he would get a price quote for 2 struts and the cost to replace them. I paid the balance of $300. After I got to the car realized the invoice did not have details of how the strut was damaged so I went back into the shop and asked to write on the invoice. Later the day Judy left me a message with a quote of $845 to replace the struts they just replaced. She never mentioned any allowance for prior payment etc. I had both struts replaced by ****** ***** ***** The tie rod was also replaced due to being broken and inoperable.
