That leasing office takes forever to do everything. I originally moved in Aug 1st, 2020, and the leasing contract was given Aug 5th. I had a yearly lease. On July 2021, I went into the leasing office asking them for the new lease to see if I want to renew my contract or not. They said they will contact the manager. A week later, I emailed the manager, no reply. I went into the office again, and the manager was there and she said she will email me. They sent me an email in Aug 30th with new contract sparring Sep 1st, a month later than the original lease stating date. I thought I cannot go back or change the leasing date so I signed, which I probably shouldnt have. Now it is very inconvenient because of the one month gap I have, because my work starts in Aug and I wanna move out in Aug but now I have to pay whole month rent without living in there. I emailed them and forwarded email as evidence I tried to reach them multiple times before the lease dead line. They said they understand the dates are not same and they know I knew that back then but as long as I signed, it was my fault. I understand my responsibility, but the fact I pushed them multiple times to renew the lease on time should be considered. I really need some help in here. I asked legal advice for the attorney and he understand my responsibility but recommended to file complaints here. Thank you for reading.
