Perfection Divorce came to the attention of the Better Business Bureau serving Eastern Oklahoma (BBB) in November of 2012 after consumers contacted BBB with complaints concerning the company. During a BBB investigation of this business, BBB contacted a representative from the General Council at the Oklahoma Bar Association to gather more information regarding the laws and regulations for paralegals in the state of Oklahoma. The representative informed BBB that paralegals in Oklahoma are not required to be licensed; furthermore, there is not a certification or license provided by the state of Oklahoma. BBB further discovered that paralegals are not allowed to offer legal advice and should always work under a licensed attorney. The representative with the Oklahoma Bar Association informed BBB that any paralegal that owns a business in which paperwork is prepared for uncontested divorces should not be doing this and will receive a letter of cease and desist from the Oklahoma Bar Association. BBB did confirm with the representative that Perfection Divorce had been sent multiple cease and desist letters. The Oklahoma Bar Association cannot legally prosecute anyone operating these types of companies. Although it is not an illegal practice it is not allowed.

The complaints against Perfection Divorce generally allege at least one of the following three concerns: inferior product or service, failure to honor guarantee or warranty, and unsatisfactory customer service.

Complainants contend that requested legal documents contain issues with legal terminology, jurisdictional language, and often the documents are incomplete, inappropriately completed, or are missing altogether. These factors result in the court's rejection of the paperwork.

Complaints on file with BBB indicate a significant failure of the business to honor the guarantee or warranty after the court rejects the paperwork. When requests for a refund are made many excuses are given, many times referencing "terms and conditions" that seem apparent on the website, but are interpreted differently and then related to the consumer for substantiation of reasons to not honor the guarantee.

Consumers allege that calls and emails are not responded to or returned; or, responses are convoluted and contain no factual basis, relying heavily on "terms and conditions" that are not applicable, do not exist, are confusing, or are given an alternative meaning not apparent to the consumer.

It appears that there is a failure to make known all material facts in both written and verbal representations, remembering that misrepresentation may result not only from direct statements, but by omitting or obscuring relevant facts. Therefore, there is a failure to direct effective means of contact and to clearly disclose guarantees accompanying a service.

BBB contacted Perfection Divorce on September 3, 2013 and November 7th, 2013 concerning the pattern of complaints BBB has and continues to receive. BBB asked for the company to provide steps it is actively taking or plans to incorporate in order to prevent future complaints concerning the four issues described. Perfection Divorce has failed to send BBB a written response concerning the pattern of complaints.
