      Worst company to deal with. I wanted them to move my money into a ROTH and the never did it, but charged me for a ROTH account for an entire year. Their customer service is horrible, they don't answer their phone for a long time at times and then you get an overseas person and then they reroute you. They are not responsive, and they told me it was my fault that the ROTH never got funded because I didn't fill out the paperwork. I did not even know there was paperwork to fill out. They said they sent me an email but then no follow up after that. I have worked with IRA financial and these guys are the best, they actually care about who they work with, their follow up is amazing and their customer service is fantastic. They also stopped listening to me when i called to complain about what was going on twice. They just left the phone call. How crappy.

      This company has been terrible since joining. I so wish I had gone back to my previous company, DIRECTEDIRA.
      When you call you have to sift thru layers of people to find one who can help. Long hold times, many transfers of call, each person has a limited understanding of procedures so it take LONG times and multiple calls to get help. I am on hold right now to try to get help on something that was done incorrectly 3 days ago. They are so awful and no one cares. After 5 min on hold ,relatively short ,they are now transferring me. This is par for the course with them...so now I am on hold for someone who may or may not be able to help me with a transaction that should have already taken place. I have already filed forms and made MANY calls and STILL it never got processed because they are VERY COMPLICAted to work with and one person contradicts the other and things are not made clear...I could write a book but I will simply copy, what this box will allow of, my last email to them. I will tell you to go with directedira.com because they are a smaller company where the staff is all trained and does not speak with a difficult foreign accent half the time and where they are all trained and actually care. here follows what this site will allow of my last email as I sit still on hold waiting to reprocess the transaction I had placed days ago and that I have to redo today that will now delay me getting the thing completed for FIVE TO SIX more days!!!!!!! MY EMAIL OF TODAY:
      FYI The below email was started and been typed as I make yet another call to Equity, now ******** is trying to help me but the email started 25 minutes before being transferred to her who is competent and has the added quality of actually caring.
      Hello, **** et al, wondering why you have not closed this account per your verbal (Mae) acceptance of my desire, and my emailing you the written request you required 3 days ago.
      Everything is so difficult and time consuming with Equity Trust.....

      These guys are incompetent.
      I set up an account telling them I couldn’t fund my account until I turned 59 1/2 in 3 months. They promised me 6 months of 4% interest via their “earn while you learn” offer. They didn’t tell me I was required to fund the account within 90 days of setting it up which was impossible because I wasn’t allowed to transfer the 401k money until after the 90 days. The result was I wasted $800 in fees and closed my account with these incompetent money managers. Stay away from Equity Trust.

      most terrible company to work with. I wish I could leave a negative number of stars.
      I have tried to CLOSE this tiny account with THREE silver coins in it for more than a year and it has cost me HUNDREDS OF DOLLAR. Had to submit same paperwork over and over. I tried to abandon the account. Couldn't do it.... charge me MORE money. They are awful. Do not put your money into this company.
      I never write bad reviews, but this was the most infuriating experience I 've ever had with ANY company.

      My original review: 6/25: "Run away....
      "I have an relatively small value "asset" correctly classified as an 'unsecured loan". The borrower makes electronic (ACH) payments, part of which are meant to be allocated as interest and part as payment on the loan principal. Very straightforward. But apparently they have no way recording the payments in that manner ---continually allocating all of the payments by the borrower as "interest". I was told that they are "working" on that problem and the way to deal with the problem was to submit a "Direction of Deposit Form" in advance specifying the breakdown of interest and principal, and the expected date of the ACH payment. A royal pain. I have done exactly that, every month, but apparently the forms have been completely ignored and for 6 straight months now all of the borrowers payments have been recorded as 100% allocated to as interest. The borrower, as you can imagine is not happy, and I have no explanation other than to tell them "I am working on it" . This involves simple payments on a loan to a friend so I can only imagine what kind problems I would have with any more complicated real estate or other more complicated investments."
      ........Update: (7/23/25) An email from a rep named '*******" with instructions describing yet another way to have the borrower's payments correctly accounting for interest and principal payments. Followed to the "T" by me. Still payments were incorrectly recorded only as "interest" , resulting in yet another incorrect statement of the principal balance on the loan. For this "accounting" process involving a 17,000 $ loan I am charged $500.00 a year in administrative/accounting fees.... Not to mention the aggravation, and my lack of credibility in the eyes of the borrower. Go ahead, take your chances with anything likely to be more complicated than a simple unsecured personal involving only $17k
