Important information
- Additional Info:BBB receives hundreds of calls about companies offering opportunities to earn huge sums of money by working at home. These ads are placed in your local newspapers, magazines and on the internet. Many companies will contact you through unsolicited mail, e-mail and by telephone. Most work-at-home scams require an upfront dollar payment from you - either a fee for instructions or registration, the purchase of a computer or computer software or materials to sew and assemble.
Your Better Business Bureau does not know of any of these types of work-at-home opportunities that are legitimate or that provide you with any income.
Better Business Bureau warns that any work-at-home offer requiring an upfront fee or purchase is probably not a legitimate opportunity to make money from home. If you are thinking about trying one of these work-at-home schemes and are thinking about sending money, just remember, you will probably never see your money again or earn money by working at home. If you participate in this type of scam, it can expose you to law enforcement action if the income you earn is based on recruiting other people or the selling of substandard products.
