    On 8/18/2023 I hired Bob E******* company, BME Contracting out of Piketon Ohio. He bid the job for 15,000 which he wanted half up front and it was gave to him. 7,500$. Under his contract, he committed to provide the following;
Dig French Drain at rear of house.
    Clean Drain below hill.
Tear out and remove rotted wood in floor,
    Replace floor joists
    Repair wall
Put down new osb on floor
    Repair ceiling in kitchen
    12 floor joists in bedroom
    6 floor joists in kitchen
The last two things he listed on his contract afterwards.
Nothing was done correctly if it got done at all.He did not hold up his end of the contract. The work they did caused structural damage to the house.A load bearing wall is falling in where they did not support it underneath with the floor joists. The floor joists he bought were to short to reach the middle support beam, where they are supposed to go. They just added a board at the end of them and put bricks under it in spots. Alot of the joists are notched and not level. It is putting the house under alot of stress. They did not run the end sill to the corner of the house. The corner is a main support point and there is nothing holding it up now.The ceiling is getting cracks everywhere. The main issue with this home was the drainage problem in the backyard. The water is laying in the back of the house causing all the rotten wood. He was supposed to regrade the farthest drain ditch,he did not grade it, its still holding water in the middle. He never even attempted to put the French Drain in, I reached out to him about the faulty work that they did or complete lack of work at all and he told me he would be there with a full crew to fix it on two different days. He did show up one more time at this point in time but all that was done was he took the backdoor off and left a piece of plywood covering where the door used to be and said they decided to just keep what money i had gave him and delete rest of invoice and did not fix anything he said he would do.

BME contracting required half of the estimated bid up front to cover material costs. Upon arrival we started the demo on the rotted floor and walls and the start of the drainage issues. After moving existing debris we cut a drain around the foot of the hill behind the home as requested. We then opened up the existing drain at the back of the home. We agreed to replace the floor and the twelve floor joist as stated in the complaint. We also discovered mold in the crawl space area and excessive amounts of rotted beams and joist. We took the next day off for my workers were sick from the mold spores. I stated to the family that this needed to be addressed. Our crew returned and proceeded to replace wood and beams. We ended after replacing over 50 floor joist and beams  and plywood. Crew refused to return to molded area. BME requested payment to cover the labor and materials for the extra wood replacement.  BME accepted the down payment as payment for materials and work done to point of exit. Crew removed the back door as requested by the home owner and replace with a new door identical to the one removed, as requested. Home owner decide wanted screen door combo so we removed door and boarded to secure home. Space was secured with plywood to protect from entry and weather.  We left home secure. Mildew and mold still present.  Thanks

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below.

BME's response is unsatisfactory and thier business is not transparent. The main reason I hired this company was to fix the drainage problem,  replace the rotting, moldy wood with a new floor. They do not know how to do this apparently. They would nail New Lumber right into old moldy rotten wood instead of replacing it all. There would be no more mold in the crawl space if the job was done correctly. BME stated they had completed everything. When they did not attempt to start half the items on the contract.

The mold was not mentioned as a reason for not completing the contract. After the floor was opened up and the houses windows and doors opened up after being closed tight 3 years. They put lime down in the crawlspace and it was not said to be a problem again.

As shown in the screenshots, they said they were coming to fix the joists that had been severely installed improperly. After sending a picture of joists to the owner and asking if he would build his house like that. He stated he did not know they were like that. He stated, "I agree,Those joists are not good.I should have came more often. That will be addressed in the morning.I can't get my excavater there until Friday.I see I did put French drain. I'll fix that also. They will also add the supports on the joists we replaced, we will add hanger brackets and will have them leveled and the holes fixed. I'm going to bring a full crew tomorrow.

Noone showed up the next day. The day after that they showed up but all they did was remove the new back door they just replaced and put plywood over it. There was a door on it to begin with, it wasnt a good door, it wouldn't shut like it was supposed to, but there was a door on it.Then he messages me and says he's keeping my down payment money as payment for material and labor. They did not try to fix anything that he said  he was going to in the last conversation we had. And mold was never mentioned as a concern or bother by him in none of these conversations.

This is completely unacceptable standards of any business or company. I sit and worry about how many  other people have they did this too. My house is falling in from not being properly supported. Its suffers great structual damage. Theres a load bearing wall thats sunk in, cracks appearing all throughout the ceiling of the house, there's new places sinking down on the floor every time i go in there its worse than the last. How can he look at what they did to that place and not want to give a refund and make it right. I don't have th

    Problem:
Hello, this is ***** ******* again in regards to BME contracting. On my last response, I wasn't able to complete it before it sent. It sent before I was able to add any pictures or anything in the last response, I did not see any way to add pics after it sent, through lhe last thread of messages so i had to start this one.I decided to send every text message between BME and I through ******** from the very beginning so you can see exactly everything that was said between client and company. I added pictures of some of the "joists" they replaced and his response to the picture after I sent it to him. Claiming he did not know it was like that but he would come fix it with his crew the next day. (Which he never showed up) Also, pictures of the kitchen after they were done with it. They left plywood over the doorway (right beside where they left the original door propped up), they left huge holes in the wall in.several places. They ripped all the lower cabinets out.Including sink and dishwasher and threw it all in a huge trash pile outside. I tried salvaging some of the items out of the trash pile like the dishwasher, sink, electrical outlets, but it had been smashed using excavator and had heavy items on top that I could not budge. There was also a kitchen bar they removed and never replaced. They never replaced the electrical outlets they took out either. All this stuff I just mentioned is minimal compared to how bad they left that floor and how it is unsupported. The structual damage is causing so much stress on the house. Its causing the load bearing wall to sink down. The roof and floors are getting worse everytime I go over there. This needs fixed immediately. All the money that I had to fix the house, went to BME contracting. All the work I hired them for needs redone. It is even worse now because of all the faulty work they did that caused extensive damage to the place.Anyone is welcome to come see for thierselves just call me first and we can meet there. Thanks
