Ordered a tow truck to take my 2004 Dodge Ram from my mechanic's house to a mechanic shop in Dayton for an emergency overnight job I needed completed. And the tow truck driver said they lost the key and to call Sandy's towing. I called Sandy's Towing and the customer service dispatcher said it wasn't her fault and there was nothing that could be done at this time. And when I tried to explain that this was their fault and the truck was being towed for an overnight mechanic to work on it as an emergency I was paying the mechanic overnight to get a job to go out in the morning ...she just continued to say there was nothing she could do and hung up. This has cost us a job and as a business this is unacceptable. This entire incident made the towing to Dayton for an emergency mechanic pointless as they could no longer work on the truck because of the missing key. Also we lost money from a job that the truck was supposed to go out on the next morning because of them. UNACCEPTABLE and the customer service telling me it wasn't her fault and nothing could be done is UNACCEPTABLE. If you are going to run a business take ownership of issues that are your fault. Now the truck is just sitting out in an unprotected lot and cannot be moved into a secure location because of them. I filed a police report in case something happens overnight, because this is highly suspicious and unprofessional behavior.Business Response

We are totally responsible for losing the keys. My employees are human, and accidents happen. I have no problem paying for the lock smith to cut new keys. As far as my dispatcher being rude and hanging up, I just listened to the complete phone call. My dispatcher was very calm and professional and advised there was nothing we could that evening but could get it handled the next morning. The lady on the line that was screaming wouldnt except it and when the vulgarity started my dispatcher hung up. I have not heard anything back from the actual owner of the vehicle.

They got our key replaced but only gave us a half refund of $188.13. I feel like they should have given a full considering it made the entire tow pointless for us and we lost a job because of them. But atleast they did do something.Initial Complaint

On june 1st my car was towed by Sandy’s towing. Upon picking up my car , I immediately noticed damage to my rear lower bumper. When I called them initially, I specifically asked if they caused any damage because the car is way too low to be towed. They said no but obviously they didn’t check. The carbon fiber is all scuffed and scratched and also cracked . The scratch marks are even on the road from where the car scraped. Provided pics and proof to them the same day. They came out and looked and said the damage wasn’t from them even. So I asked them if I pay them to come back and try to tow it again to prove to me that they don’t scrape the bumper again they said no they aren’t going to do that. Because they know 100% that it will cause damage again. There is no way that this car can be towed via flatbed or any method. It’s on air suspension. He told me to report in on my insurance and that carbon fiber can be repaired . No.he doesn’t want to own up to the damage. The car is a show car and strictly for show. He said there was prior damage but I have proof that there wasn’t. Also have a neighbor that witnessed it as well. Don’t let these scammers tow your car. And always check for damages even though they don’t want to cover them and won’t admit fault. Many complaints of them doing the same thing to others now that I have spoke to other people.Business Response

Good morning,
I have not been involved in this claim. I need to get answers from our safety department who came out to look at the damage. I have several questions. (1) If this was a show car and lowered, why weren't you there when this was loaded to help get the car up off the ground? (2) You just admitted that there's no way to tow this vehicle, I would like your thoughts on blaming us? I will wait for your response.

I called around for tow service. During the calls each tow company only asked my location, model of car, and phone number. Stating that a driver would call me when in route. Never was in credit card information given over the phone nor asked for.
Shortly afterwards; ****** ****** (driver) called asked for an actual address. (I still have driver cell phone number saved in my call log). After more than an hour, sandy towing shows; driver confirmed drop off location and began hooking my car to his truck.
One minute later ***** ****** pulls up behind us. Driver gets out the car walks past us to the sandy truck driver speaks with him for a moment and leave. I didn’t think nothing of it.
Sandy towing towed my car home. Presented to my a receipt of what I owed. I handed him my physical Bank Card.
Shortly Afterwards I receive two charges from Sandy Towing and from ***** ******. I called sandy and asked them why did they share my card information with ****** ****** that there was no possible way for them to get it unless the driver shared it with them. And that I believe that what the two drivers were talking about during pick up. Ask for driver name to file police report. Wouldn’t give me drivers name. Sandy told me a supervisor would call me back. No call as of yet. I called ****** ****** and told them I have an unauthorized charge from them and that that information was stolen and not given to them. The woman I spoke with (Kaley) stated well it was given to us. We charge a service fee. I asked how is it legal to take my cc information and charge my card without my knowledge. I informed them that I was filing a complaint with the bbb and calling the police. She laughed and asked me was I done. I hung up.
I’d like to file a complaint against both businesses

Good morning,
I need some information to truly respond. I need our invoice # or the date of the tow plus the type of the vehicle towed. I assure you our driver didn't give ****'s towing your credit card information. The reason we require the credit card information is exactly for the reason you described in the complaint. We don't like sending a truck without securing payment up front for the reason of cost. You called two companies to see who showed first. Someone was going to loose and eat the cost. I can tell you that ****'s also requires credit card upfront to secure service the same as us. The truck that showed up cost $130,000 plus paying a driver and diesel fuel now at $4.75 a gallon on a truck getting six miles to a gallon. This process has been in place with us for years unless you are one of our commercial customers. If you get me the requested information I will talk with my driver. The credit card information is in our office not with the driver until he is completed with call.

I am rejecting this response because:It is absolutely not true.. neither of THREE tow companies I called did or has ever took my card information over the phone before providing service. I gave the Sandy’s tow driver my physical card information after we arrived at drop off location and he told me what I owed. After which he went to his tow truck and got on the phone ( I assumed to call in card information but now I know it was to share my information). After which he got out of his truck, returned me back my card and presented to me the receipt I shared with you. Also like to add that I was charged exactly the same time by both tow companies at time service was completed by Sandy’s. which was 20+ minutes after leaving pick up location. ****** *** driver never came up to me at all… not to collect my information, inform of a charge, say kiss my butt or anything. He went straight to the Sandy Tow truck to speak to driver and walked straight past me back to his truck and left.
and it’s interesting that Sandy’s is sending the false response when
On 02/13/23 2:59p Sandy’s returned my call… Spoke with **** (supervisor) from Sandy’s towing. Stated that he spoke with his driver and he driver admitted to doing so. Stated that he embarrassed to even have to make this call that he apologized; and that he’s issue a half refund as well as the $25 back that ***** ****** charged me. Stated if they’re an issue with customer and another company that they do not get involved and certainly don’t share customers cc information. Stated I should receive refund by next business day. And that the driver would be facing consequences.
and just like he said he issued my refund.. I received a return back to my back (screenshot attached of original charge and return)..now why would he (Sandy’s) call and apologize and then refund my money if they did nothing wrong or illegal. I also have a witness who was there with me and witness the conversation with drivers and who was there when I made phone calls to tow company… she can attest and ANYONE WHO EVER CALLED A TOW COMPANY that not one of the three companies I called (this is including Sandy’s and ****s) take any card information over the phone, ask for any card information over the phone, nor did I share my information over the phone.
This response blew me and I’m going to do all I can to make sure both companies are investigated. It’s also telling me that both drivers are still employed or received no Disciplinary actions probably because this is an illegal and unprofessional action both companies practice often. I feel violated and now spit on. My personal Business Credit Card information was shared and illegal charged without me knowing or my permission. Big violation.. how am I to know that Both drivers didn’t write my card down being that they share and charge customers credit card information with out permission. I’ve been in business for 7 years and never have I know for it to be okay to share my customer CC information with another business because the business (thinks) they’re owed. I would advice the other company to contact the customer directly… especially since both of the tow company has my cell phone number! Because my name, number, make/model of car, and location was the ONLY thing I shared with tow companies over the phone and the ONLY thing they asked for!
Sincerely,

Additional InformationI also like to add to my response that I would never give my credit card information to three different tow companies over the phone before service is provided… especially to be charged by all companies…when only one can provide service. Make it make sense! So what about the customers who have cash???!! How do y’all charge them then??? And why would the driver ask me if I’m paying cash or card after drop off and take my card IF Sandy’s already had my credit card information ??? And yes I called around because I waited for almost 2 hours for a tow truck and it’s My Right to choose service from whoever I want!!! Also the (3rd tow company Dayton towing..never charged my card). I never canceled and I’m sure they showed and saw my car was not there. You know why they never did because they NEVER took my credit card information over the phone. None of them did. If this is a practice all tow companies practice then why don’t I have 3 different tow charges on my credit card? Because it’s BS!! I also just called and requested a tow and GUESS WHAT No Credit Card information was taken.. you should try as well from a different number as part of your investigationBut when they pull up and look stupid I’ll be sending you a picture of that as well
