I have been a loyal customer for over 20 years. I have never made a claim. I'm the only driver of my vehicle in my household. My stepson doesn't even ride in my car he is an adult with his own car and insurance. They added him to my account and sent me an email telling me. I called to remove him and they are only refunding part of my money. I got billed yesterday 6-19-25 today I called to remove him 6-20-25. They are keeping 40.34 dollars. They just lost a customer that pays their premium 2 times a year, never had an accident, and your underwriting told me "well if you feel you need to cancel due to the 40.34 we will send you to cancelation:" Question Progressive what's it cost to obtain a customer? How many people will I be telling about this poor business decision by your company? I can tell you a lot of people. I will never have progressive again ever. You lost a great customer over 40.34 dollars and horrible customer service.

They will add drivers to your policy without consent. I have been with them for 15 years and because my son who recently got his driver's license, was added to my policy and I was charged $288 a month. When I called them they said they can do this with people that have the same address. Even though you do not physically add them to your policy. You will have to show them documents of that other person having insurance to get them off your policy. No money will be refunded as they claim its your fault because they sent letters claiming of the new charges and if you don't respond its automatically added. This is robbery and I don't understand how this is legal.

I am truly disappointed that Progressive will not take care of an issue that one of their customers created. They rear ended my vehicle on the highway, and after it being in the shop for couple of times, the damages were not fixed to the original state that the vehicle was in. The agent Joseph King with Progressive is very unprofessional and will not return calls! It has been a couple of months between the runaround and the vehicle is still not being looked at. Progressive you need to get your things together…..

STAY FAR AWAY FROM PROGRESSIVE. You can have them for YEARS and neve file a claim, then when you do, watch out, They will increase your rate.
I am senior citizen living on a fixed income and have Progressive. In the years I had them, I never filed a claim until last year. The condo upstairs had a water heater link that soaked my utility closet. I called Progressive and they suggested I file a claim. I assumed they would go after the neighbor's insurance, as it was their issue that caused the damage. But they did not.
Progressive eventually paid out about $2300. Then this year, they more than tripled my rate from about $1200 to over $4000 annually.
Do NOT get your insurance from them. They will take any and all reasons to raise your rate to a ridiculous level. They have ZERO claim forgiveness like most of their competitors and take advantage of their clients in any way they can.
You've been warned. Find any company other than them for your insurance needs.

I warn you to heed these reviews here that state that the Progressive underwriting department is looking to cause problems. I got a document stating they'd found people in my home who I didn't report. One does one doesn't, I explained that and that none of them would be driving my vehicle as they drive their own and have their own insurance. Imagine my surprise when I get a bill for $511 dollars! I then spend two weeks fighting that and still owe $80 for the month that I "insured them" and they refused to take it off. I never wanted them on my insurance at all and called to make sure they wouldn't be!
When I called again for a later issue, the progressive agent at least was kind enough to let me know my app wasn't transmitting data and they could remove my discount. I repeatedly am baffled at how Progressive expects you to somehow know they haven't received your documents (even though it takes two weeks to process) and to know THEIR app isn't working.
I rue the day I chose Progressive. I would pay a LOT to go back in time and save myself the headache.

Don’t go with progressive insurance you write a claim and they pay you nothing they lowball you. They make it hard for you to get your car repaired. My car has been without a sunroof for a month now waiting on them and they’re paying me nothing.

Oct 2024 called progressive to tell them a lady was acussing me of rear ending her vehicle..I did not hit/tap/bump/ her vehicle.. waited 9 months for the out come with out getting any status update from.progressive i called June 2025 to find out the lady got a settlement for $8,000 and her vehicle fixed and they put me at fault when in fact i called them to tell them of the lady scam. They called at 8am and the lady continue saying the word Tap so in the conversation at 8am i said i did track her from behind all thru the mall they understood TAP i told them.that the word TAP is not in my vocabulary they oersecuted me not for the iniciend but for the word TAP which they mention many times now they said i said bump. They lady has a damage on her vehicle thats very old i have no damages to my vehicle progressive came to my house and took pictures from inside and out also inside the cabin and they said there is no way your vehicle hit the other vehicle or it would have been cracked on the inside or totaled. Now im at fault for an accident that did not happend..i just want ppl to aware that progressive calls at 7:45am to manipulate your statement they do not even say goodmorning they use thier own word tactics to manioulate the conversation and use it agaist you..

I see now why a big company like Progressive is not BBB accredited. I finally had to file a claim for a new windshield and Progressive says I don't have coverage for that. Even though when dealing with the agent just 6 months ago I was assured we had full glass coverage. The policy is only provided on the website (that can be changed at will) and so when they looked it up, the coverage doesn't show. Not only this, but it would have been a free-to-us repair if the Safelite hadn't broken the glass while trying to repair it, and now - what do you know, Progressive charges a $500 deductible for replacement. When calling Progressive claims, they use Safelite customer service, and specifically have to say Safelite is not insurance. Well then why is that company taking care of the claims!? They are illegally working together to take people's money.
