I purchased a **** ***** ***** from Becks Auto Group on 3/28/24. When my car was delivered, I had to replace the dead battery. The driver who delivered the car told me Max had to jump start the car in order to drive it on the trailer. I was told by Max that nothing was wrong with the car when I previously asked for a video walk-around of the car. I checked the oil, and it was dangerously low. I had to pay $183.77 to replace the battery. I paid $151 for an oil change from ********* and was told that oil was leaking from the oil filter. I told Max my salesman about the issues, and he said he would talk to the owner. I received no response. I then spoke to Doug the finance Manager about the issues, and he said he would speak to Max about it. Still waiting on a response. I feel I should be reimbursed because I was not told about these issues when I asked about the condition of the car.Business Response

We purchased a **** ***** ***** from Beck's Auto Group in Mason on May 17, 2023 for $9995.00, financed $10,954.
In July 2023, we decided we wanted to trade the car back in at Beck's because they had a different vehicle there we liked. We were at Becks for more than 2 hours while they went through this ***** they had previously sold us 3 months before with a fine tooth comb. Their offer to us was somewhere in the ballpark of $3500 after we had just bought the car off them for almost $10K. They told us the reason the trade value was so low was because car values had dropped significantly since three months prior and that the tires on the car were dry rotting.
A bit ago, the engine light came on and when we recently took it to get serviced, our local repair shop indicated that there were about 10 things wrong with the vehicle that needed to be repaired, including that it had been in an accident and that was not disclosed on the carfax from Beck's, all totaling more than $8,000.
On April 16, I reached out to Beck's to explain what had happened and the manager was open to hearing my concerns. He told me to bring the car in and they would look it over and fix what they could, or they would swap it out for another vehicle. I called the dealership back later that afternoon and told the manager we would come by that night to drop the car off. The manager told me "No, I've talked to the owner and all we will do is give you current trade value." When I told him that was unacceptable, he told me I should just go ahead and get a lawyer.
It's frustrating to know we purchased a car thinking we were getting a reliable vehicle only to find out, we are now paying for a car that will eventually be undriveable and that will cost more to fix than it is worth. Since the purchase last May, we have only put 11,671 highway miles on this car and at this point we are no longer driving it.

On March 16, 2024, I purchased a **** ******* ****** (As is) from Becks Dealership. As advertised on the window of the vehicle, it stated there were no recalls on the vehicle and the mileage was approximately 85,000 miles. On March 22, 2024, the engine light appeared, and the vehicle was taken to be put on a machine which resulted in a bad catalytic converter in addition to the headlight being out. In the meantime, I entered the VIN number in the ******* factory recalls and there are three (3) and I called ******* USA.com and gave them the VIN number and they stated that this vehicle has 95,000 miles on it. When purchasing the vehicle it had 85,000 miles. How can the miles be less. I have a problem with unlawful representation of mileage and stating there were no recalls. I would have not purchased the vehicle for those two reasons.
I called and spoke with one of the salesmen and told them about misrepresenting the vehicle stating there were no recalls and he said, “Well when we checked their were not any recalls.” The recalls have been in existence since 2023. Then I called again and spoke to Alex at Becks Auto Group and he said to bring the car in, unfortunately, I was too sick, so I had much son take back on April 3, 2024 and he was told “Oh we have to tell the owner and see what he says.”
I have a problem with this dealership misrepresenting its vehicles and not working with me the customer after making a large purchase to remedy this problem in some way. They are not customer friendly and misrepresented the mileage and the recall notices on the vehicle.
I would like us to come to some agreement with the repair of the catalytic converter since I feel they knew there was an issue and turned the mileage back so the engine light would not be on. We had this vehicle for one week and Becks Auto Group is not trying to remedy the issue in any way neither address the mileage misrepresentation. Help with fixing the Catalytic Converter.Business Response

Good morning. I am responding to a complaint filed by **** ***** ******. Becks Auto Group checks every car for open recalls. We take care of most of them as long as the manufacturer has a fix for the recall. Sometimes there is not a fix at the time of purchase. However I inform the customer the manufacturer will notify them by mail as soon as the remedy is available. ****'s purchased a 17 ******* ACCENT with VIN ***************** on 3/16/2024. There was not an open recall then and there is not a current open recall on the vehicle now. We monitor this through NHTSA on the safercar.gov website. This is the only means we have to check for open recalls and all manufactures are required to make recalls available to the public. ********* website does not show recalls. These are service campaigns, not a recall which are not required by law to be disclosed to the NHTSA | National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Please see attached recall notice for verification. The ODO at the time of sale was 85660. Please see attached ****** providing every odo reading and also provide the customer with ****** buyback guarantee if the miles reported are not the actual miles. Based on the information we have access to everything about the car was accurately disclosed to ****. Becks Auto Group does stand behind every car we sell. Our offer still stands if **** would like to schedule an appointment to look at her check engine light that came on. We can inform her of the reasons why it is on and provide her with an estimate to replace the catalytic converter. A catalytic converter should last for around 8- 10 years, the exact lifespan can differ. Mileage and engine tune can impact on the durability of the item. This very well might be the reason her check engine light came on. Please call us *** ****** and make an appointment in order for to properly address this issue. We can also look at the headlight you are having issues with also. These both are normal maintenance items that are expected for the age of the vehicle. I hope you are feeling better and able to make it to the dealership soon. I can be reached at ###-###-####.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below. The car was already brought back to the dealership and my son spoke with Alex who stated yes it is the Catalytic Converter that is causing the engine light to come on in addition to the paper work obtained from putting the car on a diagnostic machine stating the same providing a printed diagnostic code and reason for engine light to be on. Alex stated he would talk to the owner and get back to him this week. *******, my son just called today and Alex said he would call him back without getting a call back number. We have already brought the car back and the problem is known and nothing is being offered to help resolve this issue. Not even an acknowledgement of the recall or the mileage. There have been no effort to help us after patronizing the company. It is very disappointing. I attached the safety recall notice and I have an appoint to go to ******* in ********* on April 30, 2024 at 11:00 to fix the items on the recall list. This car has been in my position since March 19, 2024 and Becks is not displaying any help to me as the customer.

On September 11, 2023 I had did a pre purchase inspection on a 2014 bmw 535i that Becks auto group had for sale. Everything checked out good for a used vehicle but I was told it had a slight coolant leak and becks auto group would take care of it. I take it home Monday night and I took it to school on Tuesday morning as I am a college student who commutes 40 minutes a day which is why I purchased an unlimited mile 1 year warranty. The following day (tuesday) as I’m heading back from school it showed me the low coolant message. They agreed to fix it but it’s just the fact they didn’t do anything about it first hand. Fast forward two more days (Thursday 9/14) the car has a misfire and a blinking engine light first start in the morning made me miss class and work. They fixed it however and I was on my way out. All of this happened within the first 200 miles of ownership. I then notice weird noises in the following Tuesday 9/19 on my birthday actually which is why I purchased the car for myself I thought it might be the belt tentioner so I didn’t want to bother them with another repair so I did it myself since I’m in school for engineering and changing a belt and pillows wasn’t so hard. I fix it to find out that the motor was actually knocking I then tell becks auto group about my concern and they say they will talk to the owner but nothing and I was forced to keep driving it until they figure out a resolution. They did not and the motor completely blew and I had to tow my car over to get them to actually work on it. They then never touched the car for 2 weeks until I finally got the warranty and then to work and get an estimate now they have a new motor I’ve been trying to reach them the last week in an update on when I can get my car back. I’ve been miserable without a car I can’t rent since I’m 19 I’m using my moms car and paying for her to rent I’m also financing the car I just need help getting back on the road since this is very stressful and I have school first.Business Response

Becks Auto Group is very sorry for the issues the customer is having. Everyone understands how difficult it is when your vehicle breaks down. Over the past few weeks we have been working with the warranty company to resolve this issue. 2 weeks ago it was agreed to replace the engine. We also discounted our normal labor rate in half to reduce customers out of pocket expenses. Thankfully the engine arrived 7 days ago and our shop completed the install on 11/3. A couple additional arose after the install of the engine and my team is looking into them currently. Our customer will be back on the road in his BMW very soon.
Thank you

Becks Auto Group has made every attempt to satisfy this customer. This replacement happened as soon as the part arrived. The customer elected to have the warranty company ship the engine to our store. However, it was installed the day it arrived. After install, another part failed not associated with the engine replacement .This part in question was not covered by his powertrain only warranty when he purchased on the car. We offered to fix the issue and provided the customer with a heavily discounted cost. He refused and picked up his car. Beck's Auto has made every attempt to make this right.
Thank you

I purchased a 2010 Audi q7 March 2022. Within an hour of leaving the lot my check engine light came on. I contacted my sales rep who told me to go see what it was. It turned out to me the Catalyst converter. For the month of march my truck was back and fourth to the dealership. They did fix it but put a smaller after market part of the truck which is causing other issues now which they will not fix. I asked in march to be put in another truck with the owner refused. My truck is not shifting and the part they put on and welded is hitting my transmission. The last repair they did they forced me to sign a paper in order to get my truck back stating they would not fix anything else. I have since called them and they refuse to fix the converter the right way even though they messed it up. I have purchased used vehicles all my life and have never had this kinda problem with a business. Do not do business with this company. I have also since found out that their license to do business has expired. This company is a fraud and only cares about themselves and moneyBusiness Response

Tell us why here...October 12, 2022
Ms. ******* did buy a car from us back in March, and she did
have a couple of issues with the vehicle. She went online and gave us a Two
Star Review. I called her and asked what I could do to help her. She said she
was having trouble with the catalytic converter, so we replaced the catalytic
converter for her, and she changed the review to a 4-star review.
Ms. ******* was taking her car to another service station,
and she would come here with a new and different problem every time she went
there. Finally, after “FIVE RETURN VISITS” for other issues that didn’t exist before
her purchase, we explained that there wasn’t anything else we could do for her.
She purchased her “AS-IS” car and chose not to buy a service contract. So after
“Five Free Goodwell Services” and many hours of free labor, we told her that we
would not service the car anymore for free.
After that, she threatened to sue us and did another “One
Star” review. Below I will post a copy of my reply to her review.
Respectfully submitted

We are sorry that we have not been able to
satisfy you. There is always risk when purchasing a preowned vehicle,
especially one with higher miles and 12 years old. Usually vehicles with over
157,000 miles fall into that category. We have made numerous repairs after your
purchase, even though we are not required to do so. With that said, I am sorry
that we were not able to satisfy you.Customer Answer

***** *******Problem:
I purchased a 2010 audi in March 2022, not even an hour later the check engine light came on. Took it back to the dealer and the cat needed to be replaced. They purchased an after market cat that did not fit the truck and the first time it was place on wrong. I had to go back a second time for it to be fixed right and it was welded on which is not the proper way to install part. The part was smaller than the right part that should have been put on. This part is now hitting up against the transmission and causing shifting issues. It is also not allowing the truck to vent the way it's supposed to. The month of march they worked on the truck 6 different times and the last time I was forced to sign paper saying i would not bring it back in order to get my keys back (I was there with my four children by myself). I contacted the dealer and asked to get my down payment back or for them to fix the truck the right way and was told no. I did purchase a service contract because the truck was older with more miles but they will not cover the cat because the dealer missed it up and used after market part. So now I am stuck with a truck and payment for something I am unable to drive because it does not perform right. This company should be ashamed of themselves and they way they treat middle class customer.
