- Advertising Review:In August 2023, BBB contacted Mr. Appliance of Mentor regarding claims in its advertising.
Its online listings include claims stating "All work & parts guaranteed" and "Our technicians are clean and professional, and we guarantee our appliance repair and parts for a full year." According to the BBB Code of Advertising, when using the terms warranty or guarantee in advertising, the advertiser must clearly and conspicuously include a statement that the complete details of the warranty or guarantee can be seen prior to sale at the advertiser's location or viewed on the advertiser’s website. Any material limitations or conditions that apply to the guarantee or warranty must be clearly and conspicuously disclosed. The business did not respond to BBB's request that it add the terms of its warranties and guarantees to its advertising.
The claim "Get $20 off all appliance repairs when you call now!" appears on its website. Sales or price reductions should be for a limited period of time. If the sale exceeds 30 days advertisers should be prepared to substantiate that the sale is indeed a valid reduction and has not become their regular price. Ohio Consumer Law also prohibits continuous sales. As of January, 2025, its website states "$25 off any repair when you call before 5pm."
