The following describes a pending government action that has been formally brought by a government agency but has not yet been resolved. We are providing a summary of the government’s allegations, which have not yet been proven.
On Feb. 14, 2019, the Ohio Attorney Genera’s Office announced that six employees of a Columbus nursing facility and a contracted certified nurse practitioner had been indicted by a Franklin County Common Pleas Court Criminal Division Grand Jury on charges related to an investigation of Whetstone Gardens and Care Center on Olentangy River Road.
The matter was pending with the court, as of the date this information was entered in this BBB Business Profile.
On Feb. 20, 2019, in response to a BBB request concerning the matter, Ryan Stubenrauch, a spokesperson for the facility, stated: “Whetstone vehemently disagrees with any suggestion that employees of the facility caused the 2017 death of a patient who was transferred to the hospital five days before passing away. As to the allegations of forgery and neglect by former employees regarding a second individual, these issues came to our attention two years ago during an annual Department of Health survey and were immediately addressed. As always, the health, safety, and well-being of our residents is our number one priority and we will continue to ensure that all of our residents receive high-quality care.”
