DOT - 5/1/19 Paid amount - $7,060 Service - The business committed to installing a new furnace and AC unit after the unit failed in fall of 2018 upon newly moving into our home (August 2018). After multiple proposals, we selected Mr. Mechanical. We agreed to wait until the next spring (5/1/2019) to have it installed. We decided not to install a new air conditioner until the next spring. Dispute - The dispute is related to the air conditioner. Only 3 months following installation (May 2019), the unit began not working (August 2019). Upon **** *****'s (owner) service for the unit, he stated the new unit had lost quite a bit of refrigerant. He did refill it at no charge. Lack of Resolution - We had it re-serviced in spring of 2020 as the AC unit needed refilled again. **** said he would find and resolve the issue. The unit had a 1 year manufacturer and service warranty and a five year manufacturer warranty (10 years if unit is registered). At this point, I asked if we would just replace the unit. He wanted to do a dye test to see if he could figure out the issue (May 2020). Later that summer he discovered a small leak and said the needed part was on back order. I have communicated with **** from September 2020 through October of 2021 about status update or when he could come to fix the unit. He never came back and rarely responded, I asked him to let me know what part that was on back order. He never told me the part. I had to find another company to fill the unit in May 2021 ($735). I was referred to a new HVAC company to figure out the issue. The new HVAC company also refilled the unit in June 2021 ($1,170) along with a replaced coil that had a leak. I have paid ~$3.5K for the unit originally and an additional ~$2K of labor and refrigerant following installation. Now it has been determined I need to buy a new unit as there are more leaks. All I am requesting is to be reimbursed for the original AC unit. He should have just replaced originally!
