This company is a joke. They have put somebody else's university debt collection of $3305 on my name and account and ruined my credit score completely. I completed my masters 10 years ago and got my degree and now tey came up with this nuisance. Without investigating it thorughly, they have submitted the collectotion report to credit bureas.

We have previously communicated with complainant on multiple occaisions that we do not have an account in our office under his name and were attempting to contact the wrong party with the same first and last name. His contact information has already been deleted from our database and any reference has been deleted from all credit bureaus.

That information from a false-positive hit through one of our skip-tracing databases which seeks name, DOB, SSN, address matches in search of missing information. Once it was discovered to be inaccurate information a code was immediately sent to all credit bureaus in which we report and just to make sure we sent another file containing a duplicate code today. Attached is a print screen of the credit bureau window on that account record.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below.

The company has provided nothing showing my obligation to ************ ***** ********** that is legitimate.  The Account Summary shows nothing with my signature on it showing that that amount is owed.  What was provided was a application for parking from 2004.  You cannot list a debt from 2004 showing as a new debt.

Complainant did enroll for classes at *** and by doing so, according to the student handbook, accepted responsibility for the documented charges she incurred. The attached documentation was provided to us by our client ************ ***** **********. This student ledger is sufficient to validate the balance and it is not necessary that we or the institution provide any documentation with the debtors signature. If complainant feels that the charges are in error she may contact the school directly. That contact information is provided for her on the supporting information from the school.

I have attached the company's response from 2/17/2025 to this email.  As I mentioned in my previous complaint, this issue is from 21 years ago.  A debt from 21 years ago cannot be listed as a new debt and listed on my credit report, WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT THESE CROOKS DID!!!  In the response from 2/13/2025, which I have attached here, the company acknowledged that they were incorrect in information that they received from their client on dates and they said this information would be removed from the credit bureaus.  THIS HAS NOT BEEN DONE!! I will not accept any "ledger' from 2025 as this is fraud!! I attended ************ ***** ********** in 2004. 21 YEARS AGO!!

In case there happens to be some problem with the attachment, here is the the fraudulent company's response on 2/13/2025:

Complainant's delinquent student account was placed in our office for collection on 11/2 7 /24 by

Upon discovery of the incorrect dates provided by our client, at our first opportunity, we submitted codes to have the account removed from all credit bureaus in which we submit information. It can take several days and up to two weeks for the credit reporting agencies to process the file submitted. At this point we have done all we can to address complainant's concerns. She can also submit and ACDV dispute directly with the CRA in which the item still appears which may expidite its removal.

Subject: Debt Validation Request – ******XXXX

    Dear KEY 2 RECOVERY,

I am writing in response to a notice I received regarding a debt allegedly owed to your company. In accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) (15 U.S.C. § 1692g), I am requesting that you provide written validation of the debt before any further collection attempts.

    Please provide the following:

The name of the original creditor.
The amount of the debt, including a breakdown of fees, interest, and payments made.
Proof that you have the legal right to collect this debt.
A copy of the original agreement or contract that created this debt.
Verification of the statute of limitations for this debt in my state.
If you cannot provide proper validation, you must cease all collection efforts and remove any negative reporting related to this debt from my credit reports. Additionally, if you attempt to report this debt to credit bureaus before validation, that would be a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and FDCPA.

Please respond in writing within 30 days of receiving this request. If you fail to do so, I will consider this matter closed.

They added a 25 year old account to my credit report. This was resolved and deleted from my credit report 25 years ago. They have deliberately damaged my credit by adding this as a "new" debt. They need to remove it!

This company appeared as a collection account on my credit report 3 days ago stating that have a debt of $836 and the entry has negatively impacted my credit score. I have NEVER attended the school in question: ************ ***** **********..have NO knowledge of the account or debt. Obviously, there has been a mistake or the account with the School has been fraudulently created in my name. I have filed a dispute with ******** and have asked them to investigate further and to provide me documentation of the debt WITH any of MY signatures so that I can report fraud. Im waiting for a response from Experian. Another consideration is that the last college i attended was in 2000 (25 years ago!) when i received my Masters degree and it wasnt from the school that Key 2 Recovery Inc is attempting to collect a debt for).

Complainant's delinquent student account was placed in our office for collection on 10/29/2024 by our client ************ ***** ********** in an amount of $836.31. Complainant did, in fact, sign an agreement to attend the institution and is in breach of that agreement through her non-payment of charges she incurred through her attendance. That agreement is attached as well as validation of her SSN and a full accounting of all of the charges and payments made to her account. Further we have confirmed that the SSN and Date of Birth match our records. I am not liable for any debt to Key 2 Recovery.Inc. I have no account with Key 2 Recovery. Inc and never have. There has been no original contract or proof of legitimacy of the debt provided.

Should Key 2 Recovery Inc. believe they have proof a debt is owed, I question whether the debt is “time-barred debt” due to the statute of limitations in my state. I know I have not opened any type of account in the past two months, which is the information Key 2 Recovery Inc. falsely placed on my credit report yesterday. I am very aware of every account I have opened in the past and I’ve had no dealings with this business or any other for the amount claimed to be owed in at least 20 years of financial records that I have on file.

I had a credit score discretion of collection hit my score. Key 2 recovery is a collection agency stating they are collecting on behalf of ************ University. I have never received a bill or statement from them but they have impacted my credit for a collections. I have not been affiliated with ************ University in over 15 years. I do not believe I have a balance or owe a balance but if I did it would be well over the 10 years of ability to collect it. It should no longer be impacting or showing on my credit. As a third-party collection agency, we report collection information to the credit reporting agencies not credit information that resides on the report for up to 7 years. We have deleted the collection item that was initially reported for this debtor. Once deleted there is nothing more we can do however if that item is off the credit bureau there is no record with the CRA that it was ever there and no damage to any score or report continues forward.

On 12/4/2024 I received a collection for $506 from ************ ***** University according to this company. I attended *** from 2003-2008. I have not been aware nor collected for this debt in 16 years! When I asked for the documents to show the debt was owed by me; I was denied any proof and was instructed “to pay the $506 or the debt will remain being reported on your credit”… I replied with “what debt”? After explaining how I’m 100% disabled veteran and my college was paid for by the ******** ******* Vocational Rehab program and that I wasn’t even sent bills while I was attending… so how do I have a bill? The creditor then said have a nice day and hung up. Very disgusting that not only is a debt from 16 years ago popping up against me, the debt cannot be validated by the collection company.

    Date: 12/05/2024

Complainant's delinquent student account was placed in our office for collection by our client, ************ ***** University, on 9/13/2024 in an amount of $506.39. We have made 14 attempts to contact him about this debt and have spoken with him 3 times. The first two times he merely hung up the phone. On the third and final time, 12/4/2024 he refused to identify himself or provide any information to confirm we had the right party on the line. He then became beliggerant and began cursing and verbally abusing our agent. He stated that the school informed him of the balance 2 years after he dropped classes and when he contacted the financial aid office they told him it would be taken care of. He mentioned he was a vet and should not have to pay anything. Not once did he request additional validation of his debt or supporting documentation of the balance or we would have been happy to accomodate that request. Further, we are bound by federal law to do so. He finally mentioned he would be contacting his attorney and terminated the call. We have closed this account in our office and returned it to our client so as not to subject our agents to additional profane and abusive attacks from this debtor.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is the only thing legally they can do!  I talked to the original debtor and they do not have any information to back the debt other than they show a debt from16 years ago.  They no longer have the records to provide Key 2 Technologies and that the sole job of Key 2 Technologies was to locate me.  The debtor replied and said that they were unaware Key 2 Technologies is reporting these old debts to the major credit agencies.  Debt is being erased.  I hope no other person has to go through this type of reporting by low budget credit agencies that purchase very old debts for little costs and use aggressive tactics into scaring people into paying!

I applied for a certain loan in my name a few weeks ago but I got no approval. Then I received a copy of my credit report, I found that there were inaccuracies. Inquiries and addresses that are not mine were on my report as well as accounts that I never opened and variations on my name such as ***** * ******. I have contacted the creditors to make them aware of the breach. They are requesting that I fill out a full Packet to show cause in order for them to cease reporting to my credit due to this possible identity theft. I also found this account that I believe not mine:

Acct name: KEY 2 RECVRY (Original Creditor: 01 ***** *******)
    acct no. **********
    date opened 09/15/2023
    balance $8,940.00

I am not liable for this debt and I do not have a contract with:
    Company: KEY 2 RECOVERY INC
Address: 8894 BECKETT RD, WEST CHESTER, OH 45069
    Tel No: ###-###-####

Police Report and *** Affidavit are attached with this complaint together with dispute letter sent to the bureaus and the authorization for release of information. I also filed complaints thru ****.

Please delete this account from my credit report at once. Any questions or concerns I can be reached at **** ***** ** ***** ********* ** ********** and email at *******************.

I need a response from the company.

Complainant's delinquent student loan balance was placed in our office for collection by our client ***** ******* on 9/15/2023 in an amount of $9006.72. Attached is her student ledger from her attendance at the institution which shows all charges and payments on her account and will suffice to validate her outstanding balance. Additionally, she did sign a contract with the school in the form of a Promissory Note in order to obtain a loan to attend that college. That contract is now in default due to non-payment. An identity theft claim on a student account of this nature holds no basis in fact. A third-party or identity thief is very unlikely to forge a high school transcript, fake tax return data while completing the FAFSA form for federal student aid, go to the trouble of applying to the institution, register for classes, attend those classes only to default on the loan. As a data furnisher to the credit reporting agencies we have conducted a reasonable investigation and have determined that the information is accurate as reported and shall remain on complainant's credit report until the debt is paid in full or removed due to stautory limitations.
